The device doesn't seal and keep the water fromfrom draining into the toilet bowl.

I just totally destroyed the valve trying to figure out how to loosen the hex collar in order to lengthen the height of the unit - Could not turn hex counter-clockwise by hand and tried using a wrench to hold and turn - but did not work. It is in an awkward place to have to turn. So as about half an hour went by and I am slowly trashing the unit - I just became determined to see how this dang thing will turn! I have seen others figured it out and now, I am just curious to know HOW you got that hex collar to turn. Unless I just happened to have a stuck one - I find that the harder you try till you are crazy won't work, so I backed off and still didn't get it - it was destroyed by then anyway. So if anyone can - pls just let us others know as much as you can, HOW you got that collar to turn. I'm sure it is probably simple...? Back to Home Depot in morning - if they can't show me how to turn that collar, I will have to find a suitable replacement for my type kit

Needed to replace broken ball connection for second time. It’s a design fault.

The valve was easy to install. I like the fact that the ballcock's arm can be rotated to set the ballcock where you want it. The package did not have any instructions, but for those who need instructions, there is a Home Depot video available online showing how to install it. The level of water in the tank can easily be adjusted by the screw on top of the valve: CW to lower the level, CCW to raise the level. Overall, a good replacement for Fluidmaster valve 400A which will eventually leak. In my case I replaced the Fluidmaster 400A with this Everbilt valve.
