Unroll it and let it warm up a bit and I will lay down just like carpet. Don't forget to get an extra tape so you can tape the cracks when you're joining two pieces so that your vapor barrier is sealed .

Although this product has the highest rating for sound dampening it was very difficult to work with. it tells you to lay it perpendicular to the wood floor your installing, which means you have to lay the whole floor out instead of as you work. the worst part of it was how it bubbled when you layed it out making it very difficult to work with. As the bubbles worked to the end you finally had to use a razor knife to cut bubble then overlap pieces cut again and tape. I will never use this product again

I installed this under TrafficMaster Lakeshore Pecan flooring and it feels very nice to the bare feet. It adds just enough cushion and is great for sound deadening. I don't hear people stomping around downstairs anymore. It was also easy on the knees when installing the flooring. It cuts with scissors almost like wrapping paper. In areas where I had to make odd cuts to fit around cabinets and such, I just used duct tape at the seams.

Absolutely not worth the money. Seems like half the buyers (like myself) were suckered by their clever marketing gimmick in the store. Maybe it does a good job muffling bouncing golf balls but it does absolutely nothing to muffle real noises. I installed this in 2 apartment units and can hear nighttime SNORING coming from the lower unit. I have had it installed over 1 year now and am getting quotes on what it would cost to remove the flooring in order to replace or double up on the underlayment. The noise is driving me up the wall some days and these are reasonable older tenants-not loud punks. Please do more research and save yourself the money. It's all a gimmick and they fooled us.

        So user friendly!
We used this under the Mohawk Duplin County Natural Maple flooring. Easy and does a great job of padding the flooring! We had used a foam padding on other flooring we have done and this was far easier and a superior produce. Seems much more substantial!

        Sound dampening!!
I used this for my trafficmaster flooring (laminate). The install of this product is aggrivating but worth it in the end. You have to battle the roll on the floor until you lay your flooring. But the sound quality makes my floor soft and very quiet. I do not even hear a squeek with my floors!! The battle is worth the effort !! Home depot said this is the best of the best and I believe it!!

We love our stone-look laminate flooring!
We had the flooring installed, so cannot comment on ease of installation. It is comfortable and exactly what we were looking for.

Easy to work with - feels like a foam felt
I bought this product because I wanted something of better quality for my living room to install a click floating floor. The product was easy to roll out, easily lined up edge to edge and could be cut with scissors or a blade. I did not find it was easy to tear as some comments. If there were tears, it was because of rough handling. DO take one of the recommendations from the previous post and run it as you go parallel to the wood because otherwise you are walking on it and tracking dirt over it. The only thing did not like was that the recommendation on the product was to go up 2" on the wall - I found that the wood didn't want to lay completely flat and it looked bulky. So, I trimmed it down a bit to help the wood lay flatter towards the wall. I really liked this because it was stiff, was flat and did not bunch up.

New product beats the old way
I've installed hardwood floors multiple times the old way using the heavy resin paper. I went to HD looking for that paper and found this "high tech" material, and was a bit skeptical, especially with its rather high cost. After using it, I became a believer. I didn't need the moisture barrier, but the compliance of the foam made for a nice, flat, tight installation over the OSB subfloor. A "bonus" was no need for knee pads - the foam cushion was comfortable to work on directly.

          It really works
I have installed a lot of snap-together flooring and always used the cheap foam rolls of underlayment. This time I decided to try FloorMuffler and all I can say is WOW. I used this on the upper level of my split level house and it really reduces the echo sound that usually is part of going from carpet to hard floor. It also reduces the sound of footfall when downstairs to that of or below what we'd hear with carpet. The product is high quality. It does tear relatively easy but is tougher than the typical foam underlayment. It would be very difficult to install perpendicular to the flooring and I agree that the direction it rolls out makes it tougher to install. It should unroll in the opposite direction, with the vapor barrier up. Neither of these are show stoppers. It cuts easily with a sharp utility knife. It does not compress easily but does provide an appropriate level of cushion under the flooring. If you need a high quality underlayment for flooring, this is it. It's worth the price over the cheap foam.

          Great laminate instalation
This underlay was recommended to me by a Home Depot associate as the best value for my money. He was right, this underlay performed as advertised. There were more expensive products, but I can't see any reason to spend more when this product does a great job. Noise control is excellent. When you walk on the floor there is no foot caused noise, and it goes down easy. Our installers were very pleased that we had chosen this product.

            Nice Product!
This underlayment was very easy to use and install. My only concern was it seemed to rip easily.

Easy to install - would likely purchase again.
the FloorMuffler is supposed to have the highest sound absorbency rating on the market at the moment. I can't really tell a difference between my old floors (with no sound proofing) and the new floors with underlayment, but i've only had them completely installed for a few weeks - i'm hoping a few more months of use will make the purchase and installation time worth it. We bought two rolls for 148 square feet but with the odd angles we almost ran out even though it was supposed to cover 200sq feet - we ended up making some strange cuts and using up the scraps, which worked fine. I really like that since it was so flexible it was easy to cut in place with a box knife and get it right up against the wall (or under the sheetrock lip). It was very easy to install, just lay it down and peel the sticker strip. One thing that was difficult was that the interior of the roll(s) had been crumpled and was difficult to get to lay flat (even after using the sticker strips) until the floors went on top - we solved that problem with a few small boxes laid around the room. FloorMuffler was very light and easy to maneuver as well as very thin - so our new floors were able to very closely match up with the old ones. The instructions weren't very robust as this is a new product, but i wouldn't recommend walking around a lot as shoe tread leaves a semi-permanent indent. I don't imagine this would change the performance, but i suppose it could.

            nightmare to work with
impossible to get it to lay flat with the built in adhesive. but if you already stuck it together with the adhesive then it will tear when you try and pull it apart. I should have used tape from the very beginning and not used the adhesive backing. Wasted $180 from a gift card, just going to use no floor padding. It's all going in the garbage

              great product!
We installed this product in multiple rooms about four months ago, The underlayment reduces noise from within the room and provides proper support when walking.

Very pricey for what the material is. Also, in my opinion, the soundproofing quality is not quite as advertised--installed in a LR loft above office/bathroom and the noise is essentially the same as it was b4 (carpet with .5" foam underlayment). Installation wasn't the easiest either until I had about a third of the flooring installed; often fighting the product from slipping/curling. Strongly recommend getting a cheaper/generic alternative for applications like this (low traffic, loft situations).
