If you're handy, the bars are easy to install and very sturdy. However, I have noticed that
after a while the screws used to mount the bar might rust and possibly cause a rust stream down the side of the shower area.

The product included 6 heavy duty screws to attach the bar to the wall. Because I had a solid 2 x 6 behind the drywall where I attached the bar, it is strongly secured to the wall and will support a person using it to stabilize themselves in getting in and out of the shower. Also, the placement of the bar is by the toilet. The bar can assist an older person in getting up from the toilet. If one anticipates putting in a bar in a bathroom or other project they should plan on placing a strong 2 x 4 or other secured structural backing so the bar can be used for heavy holding or lifting. I liked the flange that easily pops off and on around the connection areas at the ends of the bars. The flanges hide the heavy screws used to attach the bar to the wall. The screws are about 2 inches long and easily pass trough drywall and attach to what is beneath the drywall. I've only had it installed a week or so, but my testing of the bar assures me it is strongly attached and will perform as expected.

I had three of these grab bars installed in two different showers over tiled walls June 4, 2018. The installer had the right drills to cleanly drill holes in the tile without cracking any of them. Some holes were in line with studs, but some were not. So the installer had to use a special fitting insert for the non-stud holes that would handle more than the typical pull force. We used three holes per end (there were 6 provided each end to choose from); one installer was going to only use two and so I didn't choose him for the job. The grab bars look great and are easily wiped clean. Around the end caps I used Clear Siliconized Sealant to prevent water from getting into where the screws are located. The end caps snap easily into position, but they're hard to get off which is good.

After we picked a ideal location I installed the grab bars in two bathrooms. Thankfully my builder installed wood across the wall above the T.P. holder so I found solid wood to attach the screws! We have used these same bars outside by the above ground pool ladder area and they work well and have weathered very well. I installed them on horizontal 4x4 beams along side the ladder..

well made but some issues to know
A few points to know.
1. the bar is actually 45" from end to end including the mounting plates.
2. the actual straight part of the bar is about 40" before it curves back into the wall (not sure where they get 42" from?)
3. Screws are 2" long, if you have thick tile or stone and or if its a mud job like mine (actual cement behind the tile not just cement board) you will need longer screws. If it's an old house like mine at 60 yrs old, lube the screws by lightly scraping them on a dry bar of soap. The screws will go in MUCH easier!
4. The grab bar is a smooth brushed finish, this may be of concern to some in a wet soapy location. I've seen grab bars in commercial locations that have a grip finish on the bar. but that would be much harder to keep clean
5. The finish will show finger prints, as all SS does
.
Tools & items needed in the directions are a little short in my opinion. They list:
pencil, measuring tape, philips screwdriver, level, power drill, 1/8" bit, stud finder, safety glasses, caulk.
I've would add:
1. Masking tape so the drill won't drift & it's easier to mark holes (I used a marker it's easier to see)
2. Center punch & hammer and or a glass bit for starting the hole in glazed tile, then switch to the 1/8" drill bit.
3. rubber mallet to get the escutcheons off (screw covers) and to put them back on (see tip below for lining them back up .
4. Bar soap
The directions were good, in English & Spanish with clear drawings.
A few things to consider. When marking for the holes they will need to be a little off center to the stud, see photo below, otherwise you will not be able to use all 3 screws per mount. the 2nd pic shows how to better get more wood under each screw, 2 screws at the bottom one at the top. This is true mounting either vertically or horizontally.
Also, I marked in pencil the location of the escutcheons in relation to the screw mount plate behind it before I took them apart, as there are indentations in the escutcheons that will only line up one way to put them back on right. I caulked the escutcheons to keep water out of the screw holes.
Glacier Bay 36 in. x 1-1/4 in. Concealed Screw Grab Bar in Brushed Stainless Steel
This is a great grab bar. It is made from stainless steel and has a nice brushed finish. It comes with an instruction guide and six 2 inch long stainless screws. When you remove it from the box the decorative covers are attached to the bar, to remove them you can simply tap on the indentations a bit. The handle part of the bar is 36in long but when mounted the overall length with the covers is 39 inches. I installed this in our shower. In order for this to handle a large amount of weight you must mount it into studs or use some type of special backing behind the attachment plates. Fortunately when my house was built I had 2x8 blocking put behind my shower walls which made this install very easy. I simply determined where I wanted it, marked the holes on one end and using a level marked the holes on the other end. I then pre-drilled small pilot holes about 2 inches deep into my blocking and then drilled a hole in my marble surround just large enough for the screws to fit through. I used some sealer around the screw holes on the back of the plates and when the screws were tightened I used sealer around them. Then simply popped the decorative covers on and other than a bit of cleanup I was done. The bar is attractive, the covers hide the screws, the diameter and finish give you a good gripping surface.
Overall I think this is an excellent grab bar.
Pros
Very strong
Easy install

We have installed a number of grab bars in preparation for mom moving in. 18" and 24" grab bars were installed in shower, 18" grab bar by garage steps and 18" grab bar on wall in bathroom. The handyman was able to hit a stud on a few and he used wing nuts / Molly bolts on areas where it was drywall only.
The brushed stainless steel finish goes perfect with the other bathroom fixtures. They also hide finger prints better the crome.

I installed a ton of these on my last job working for a special needs company so as long as you screw into studs these will do a wonderful job for what you`re trying to do. My Mother just had a bad fall so this was purchased for her to get in and out of her garage easier.
