terrible delivery
Driver passed two highly visable delivery signs and left it in the rain. It is a butcher block counter. Great deliveries from home depot, their partnering with fed ex awful. Always very dissatisfied with them.

Photo not representative of the product
The pictures show nice clear wood which is what you want for a real butcher block countertop. But what I got was a block of wood with a lot of knots and voids which is not what anyone wants for a countertop of any kind. I had to order it and wait 3 weeks for it. I'm using it for a large shelf so I didn't return it. I would never buy this in the store.

We do allow for a certain amount of knots in the B side of the Butcher Block- the top A side of the Butcher Block is the smoother grain and then the B side is to be a little more rustic looking. Great packing for shipping, arrived in perfect condition. Was simple to cut and took stain and sealer evenly. Opted for the 1.5 inch thickness, solid looking finish.

Fantastic desktop
Couldnt be happier, i got tired of waiting for the karlbys to get stocked for my computer desk build so i went with this alder butcher block. Its worth paying the price for solid wood, stained mine with golden oak and then a satin poly finish. My girlfriend liked it so much she ordered herself one too that im currently staining dark walnut. Thx guys fantastic product.

Great as a desk top
Using this as a desk top with 4 coats of matte poly. Best desk I've ever had. Very solid, no bowing.

I used this solid wood butcher block in a dining room nook, over new custom cabinets. They took stain nicely and look great!

The picture does not show knots in the wood, but there definitely are in the actual product. Additionally, there is a good side and a not as good side (labelled back). The product is thick and nice, but I wasn’t expecting knots.

Wood good, the rest 'knot'
Solid tabletop, but ordering from Depot online was a frustrating challenge and the vendor is fairly non existent when it comes to questions about their product. I hated everything about purchasing this.

CANADIAN CUSTOMERS BEWARE. Estimated shipping times are a joke, tracking numbers provided don't work and they don't tell you that the product is in the US and you won't get any accurate shipping info until the product arrives in Canada. Don't expect it to arrive in a reasonable timeframe.
