Not the easiest to install had to get creative but works really well. Noticed a temp difference on hot days in my house immediately. AC runs less too.

Does not seal well on the vertical edges of the shutters. However, this may be typical for this type shutter design.

I purchased the Hessaire 16SFV-H expecting to receive a variable speed fan, as described in the specification sheet. I was shocked to learn when opening the box and finding no variable speed controls, and the instruction sheet said "Speed controls sold separately; Variable speed controls must be installed by a qualified electrician". Also the "rough-in" opening dimensions are misleading as the 16.5 by 16.5 inch opening only works if the fan is installed from inside the opening (like inside an attic or enclosed space). Since the fan guard is 18-inches in diameter it wont fit thru the 16.5 in opening if installed from the exhaust/outside side of the opening, and larger openings are required. There is no ON/OFF switch on the unit.

Works well, pushed a lot of air and is reasonably quiet.

My 2,200 square foot older colonial house in the Boston area has always been really uncomfortable in the summer, and room A/C units are always a pain to install and not the greatest way to cool a larger house. Fortunately, I decided to buy and install this 30" Hessaire shutter exhaust fan in a spare dormer window in the attic. It took a LOT of cutting, sanding, and chiseling to get the fan to fit into the slightly-too-small window frame (I left the screen in the window to keep bugs out), but it was worth the effort, and I'm glad I have the higher capacity of the 30" model, rather than the 24" model. The fan makes an enormous difference in the level of comfort throughout the house, even on the hottest summer days, and results in negligible use of the A/C units. With the fan on at night, the entire house will basically get down to the night-time low ambient temperature outside, and then I close the windows in the morning to ride out the rising heat of the day, gaining only about 5 degrees over the course of the day, until the fan goes on again at night to cool things down. I can live like this without a problem -- or A/C. The fan itself is remarkably energy efficient (using only about 300 watts to run at the single available speed) and not too noisy (but certainly audible from downstairs and in front of the house). The motor and housing seem reasonably well designed and well made -- it claims to be a USA-made product, but I think the fan motor is actually built in China. For $299 you will not find a better shutter fan for the performance, durability, and energy efficiency. My only complaint is that the description on the website said the fan comes with a power cord and plug. It does not. But I called Hessaire customer service, and they sent me a cord and plug that was easy to attach to the motor (and I am not an electrician). The fan is clearly made to be hard-wired, with a switch (also not provided). Instead, I purchase a Kasa smart mini-plug, and can now operate the fan from the switch on the plug or from an app on my phone. It's pretty cool. Glad I did this, finally!

Good fan, is using about 60w on high. are used to pour colder at night through my basement so when it’s hot during the day it’s comfortable in the basement. The biggest issue is it doesn’t seal very well when off, small bugs mosquitoes, can get in when it’s at rest.

Works very well. This is a 3 speed fan with a pull switch. Home Depot does not spell that out. You have to dig for that info from the manufacturer.

Great product! Put in my mother's outdoor kitchen/laundry room. Made a huge difference and is much quieter than I expected.
