This 3/8" wood dowel is well made and accurate. In theory, making one's own dowel is simple. In practice, getting the size spot-on is not so easy and it is frustrating when you try the fine adjustment on your table saw, only to realise that the dowel is a hair too thin. I needed this to make accurate guides to use my router table to make box joints. This made it practical. The cost is very reasonable.

Installing windows in the snowy weather, we used these in place of glazing to set the panes in place. Pre drilling holes for the small nails to ensure we didn't crack the dowels. These worked fantastic!
