Used almost daily to sand steel doors. My previous 3 x 24 in” finally gave up after several years. We will see how long this one lasts. I hope several years as well.

I waited on this review for close to a year in order to put the belt sander to a consistent test. Having used it a lot (and many times really hard) I can honestly say that I couldn't be happier with the purchase. Do not be swayed by several reviews where folks are whining about the slip-on closer for the dust bag being "cheap" and "expecting more". It is not only simple in design but very effective and you don't have to worry about fine dust gumming up a zipper. Zero negative things or critiques. If you use a belt sander a lot on good sized projects like I do you won't be disappointed. Thanks Makita.

I'd like to start by saying I've never written a product review before. However, I just wanted to let others know what my experience has been so far. Upon opening the box, I switched out the sandpaper for the grit that I wanted to start with. what a simple procedure that was, No worries about setting anything up, or dealing with tracking of the sandpaper or anything like it.. Was simple plug in and go to work. This sander is so Powerful and quiet, its an absolute joy to use, especially since sanding isn't such a joy to begin with. I'm a contractor and hobby woodworker, so this sander will see a lot of use. I didn't bother looking at any other sander, as this one fit the bill.. Yes, It's a little expensive. but you need to realize that this will most likely be a one time purchase, as it will probably out last YOU yourself. Cry once buy the best, never-mind the rest. The 9403 comes with a very long cord think 8' or 10' long which is perfect. be smart when using it, throw the cord over your shoulder in order to keep it out of your way. I purchased this to help me with the build of my new workbench top. This sander will come in very handy if you don't have the large expensive Planer's & Jointers. It'll allow you to purchase rough sawn lumber and be able to help you mill it down some. this sander just screams Quality!!! I'm very happy i purchased it. The only flaw I can find, is that it doesnt come with a coupler / fitting in order to hook up to the dust collection hoses. I'm using a Furnco 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" I recently found out that Makita does sell a Vacuum hose for this. Part # 192108-A I have enough hoses and it was a little disappointing that NONE of them worked plug & play. Be sure to pick up some Rubber Belt dressing sticks "Pro Stick" it'll clean your sandpaer and allow you more life to it, depending on what your sanding.

Sanded two projects, a table and a bench, worked great. Plenty of power, smooth action, belt easy to adjust and a long cord make this the best sander I've ever used.

The sander was pretty much assembled except for the belt and sanding dust bag, so no problem there. Tracking adjustment is touchy but works very well, and operation is excellent so far. It would be nice if it could be operated inverted in a vice like my previous sander but the housing is not designed to accommodate that. Receipt was delayed by a couple of days as the package had apparently been mis-shipped to the wrong store, but when I picked it up the package was immaculate, and all was in good shape.

An excellent sander. The collection bag in modern belt sanders is a great feature.

Chose Makita because I find their sanders excellent (though expensive) Only problem was registering it for warranty...there conformation e-mail didn't show up. They said it was my e-mail provider and go to them....Not yet cleared up, between a rock and hard place. What was wrong with just using a paper submittal if their digital system failed????

You know that you can get the sale price still when it’s within 90 days right? Instead of leaving a bad review on a good product because you’re bitter that you couldn’t wait for a sale or you were unaware that you can still get refunded the difference from the sale price .. that is petty of you and not fair to the company who had no control of the sale price. It’s a product review but a Home Depot review ..

Im a floor guy. I use this guy a lot. The belt has NEVER even started to go off the track. Plenty of power. Even only using the bag, it leaves practically ZERO dust. Ive used a LOT of different belt sanders, green, orange, yellow, you name it. This one knocks the socks off of all of them. Buy once cry once.
