This was a great product to work with - coverage was amazing even after coating three (3) times. It was also an advantage to the product being both a stain and a sealer (minimizing time). I was very pleased with it and highly recommend it. Thank you.

I just finished spraying my new mailbox post with this and can say that the color is WAY off. The marketing material on the shelf where I picked this up had all of the color pallets and this does NOT match the "acorn brown" patch at all. I figured it would dry lighter and less red but unfortunately I now have a red mailbox post.

Went on smooth, seals well and really like the color. Used for Deck and Fence.

I just started staining our fence myself while hubby was at work today. Using a garden sprayer, and had some difficulty with that, as well as a brush, it’s going quite well. Be sure to mix it well with a paint stick....don’t just shake it. I had no idea how much to get...thought 3 gal. Would be enough. Nope. 1 gal only did three bays of fence (6 ft. Tall). And I have a lot more to go. Loving the color, as it makes our yellow flowers stand out beautifully. Just know, it’s a little darker, but timeless.

This worked really well on my outdoor table project. I used treated wood and was not sure how the color would come out but i was happy with the results. The table has been through a good rain too and all the water just beaded up on the surface. This is good stuff.

Sanded down material for better results. Did this project for the deck and mailbox.

I put this on the untreated plywood siding I bought. It did not work at all. When it rained the plywood panel siding got damaged. That's over $200 in lumber that's ruined because of putting trust in this faulty product.

Our 31 year old deck is 725 square feet and so this was a big project! We had used other products before but wanted a clear seal this time. We were extremely happy with the ease of application and how quickly it dried! The deck looks fresh and clean. We’re glad we chose this product!

I used this product on both the old wood and new wood after replacing some deck boards on on my deck. The old boards are over 20 years old and they were previously painted. Removed the old paint from the old boards. So far its been wearing well and it is doing it’s job on both the old and new wood. Then i used it on a new picnic table and benches that i made to replace some old outdoor patio furniture. I don’t normally write reviews but this product has performed impressively. You have ti letnit dry before it gets rained on. But as long as you give it dry time, it performs.

It went on evenky and its an interesting color.

I used Olympic water sealer and stain on new wood siding. I got the coverage as described with no leftovers. I used a sprayer to apply the product. I probably could've had some left if I used a brush. I'm satisfied with the color.

This stain is ORANGE. We mixed the stain well and applied one coat to cedar planks, and are very disappointed with the color. We had hoped it would fade as it dried, but it is intensely orange. Be aware that the color is not close to the image on the container — there is no trace of brown. We will have to sand and re-stain a different color.

Wish I would have read the reviews. Came out totally orange and fake looking.

90 days after application my picnic table is mildewing. Applied 2 coats of this water sealer on kiln dried wood and now im looking at MILDEW!! Waste of money. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT

This is a great 2-in-1 product, really happy with the quality. The color came out a little richer than expected based on the packaging image example, however, we ended up applying a second coat for a more even finish - which may have contributed to the darker outcome. Would of maybe settled for a lighter color, but we are still very happy with it and think it will naturally fade nicely!

I would, of course, give this product a zero rating if possible. After much time, effort, and expense I finally finished my pool pump enclosure in redwood. Being an exterior structure, I wanted to seal the wood and make it as waterproof as possible. Home Depot no longer stocks Thompsons so I chose Olympic Waterguard Clear Sealer. Application was easy, since I used my spray gun. Over the course of one week, I applied three more light coats. Much to my dismay, the overall appearance took on an orange cast. Any school kid can tell you red combined with yellow make orange! Not the effect I was after. Next came the water test. After everything was completely dry......I waited another week. I then sprayed a light mist on the project with my garden hose. Sure enough, the water beaded. Fantastic. I then let the water sit for 15 minutes, took a terry towel, and wiped down the project. Again dismay. The water had soaked into the wood!

Easy to apply. Easy clean up. Changed the hue of the redwood just a bit but not in a bad way. Put some water on the sealed wood and beaded up as advertised. Not greasy or oily like other products I've used in the past. I would recommend this product.

Bought this to seal my deck and it is no where near the color pictured. It is a gross orange color . So upset.

Price can't be beat for a 5 gallon stain and sealant. Wasn't sure about the color but it came out nice. I expected a thinner stain due to it being fully transparent but it dries to a more semi transparent finish.

Definitely estimate on the upper end of what you'll need for your project. Took me 12 gallons to do both sides of a 6ft fence that was about 200 leniar feet. Used the flat deck brush to apply, thinking about getting a sprayer next time since we have so much fence!

Deck was showing wear, went twice the sqft, since the advertised coverage has never proven accurate. Get a lot of compliments on appearance, even from spouse! Used the suggested deck sprayer Depot had in stock. So either the brand new deck sprayer just wouldn’t spray evenly or the stain was too thick, but applied sloppily. Justed used the sprayer, then brushed in. The woodland part of the cedar is more accurate in color. Came out a couple shades darker than cedar, but since it will only probably a year of the advertised 3-4 yrs, not really worried since it will fade anyway. Paid thru the online curbside pickup, which is nice but let’s say could use refinement. Glad I checked my order since they brought out the wrong product, but after a little wait, they corrected.

I took some stars off for the messy application process that allows the stain to drip through the deck. It has a small hole for you to pour it directly onto the surface. It makes it too easy for too much to come out and drip below your deck and now I have brown stains on my white spiral stairs. I prefer the stain cans you just open the whole top and dip the paint can in. The stain does repel water though.

After properly cleaning the log home and prepping the walls I applied transparent maple brown to the house and it turned out amazing! Great product and a great price!

It works as intended. applied 3 coats on my planter.

Bought two identical cans and the color results were vastly different. One can produced a nice brown color while the second can produced a red variation. Now my deck it two different colors. Looks like QC had a bit of a misstep.

After power washing my 10 year old fence I wanted to waterproof it. So I went with the transparent maple brown since I wanted to keep the wood grain look. It went on even! Yes it’s thin and watery, yes you need to shake the can, yes it’s light because it’s transparent but it does provide a light color change to the wood...it softens the look of my fence. I used a 1-gallon pump spray. I only applied one coat. I highly recommend for those that want easy application and want to soften the wood look.

I thought this would stain our fence the color shown on the can. Nope. It came out very orange. However, after about a week it has toned down some closer to a cedar color. If I had to redo I would not have chosen this color, but it served its purpose.

Product amazing!

Coated my porch very easily. Easily went through a sprayer. Had a couple issues with it coating the railings without creating drip marks. But overall very satisfied
