Philips Energy Saving LED 13-Watt BR 30 indoor flood
This is a great bulb. Packaging is a little difficult to open, so just get some big heavy duty scissors to help liberate your new bulbs from the packaging. I was used to 75 Watt halogen bulbs, but PG&E keeps telling me I am a power hog, so I'm trying to do something about it. Evidently, you can cut electric bill to 20% whatever the old bulbs used to cost in energy. So, you can upgrade high traffic areas. The color is warm, and my wife said that when dimmed they look like little moons.

good
The light is bright but not unpleasant. They are a good replacement for the incandescent lights we had bean using in our kitchen. The LED bulbs take a fraction of a second to illuminate but then come on at full brightness. They are much nicer than compact fluorescents. We are not using them on a dimmer.

These LED bulbs are a good replacement for the usual incandescent
We bought these on our son's recommendation to save energy cost. Happy with the cool white, 2700K (5000K was too intense in kitchen area where used). Very tiny delay in coming on vs. incandescent noticeable when we turn both types on simultaneously, but you really have to watch. Not noticeable otherwise. Likewise with a very faint hum which I can hear if I really try, but my wife doesn't notice. Overall very pleased, but haven't had them long enough to notice effect on electric bill.

Perfect LED replacement for conventional flood bulbs
The Philips BR30 LED makes upgrading from conventional flood bulbs convenient and trouble free using existing fixtures. You just unscrew your old bulb and screw in the new Philips bulb which works with most existing dimmer switches.

Easy to install, no heat or flickering
I am thrilled with the Philips LED flood bulbs. I replaced 8 bulbs in my bonus room with a vaulted ceiling. The previous standard flood lights generated a tremendous amount of heat and would flicker after being on for some time, I suspect due to the heat. Because of this, I rarely had the flood lights on. I relied on natural light during the day, and back lighting from my wall art, bar and big TV for light in the evening. The new LED’s were on for over an hour. They didn’t flicker or generate any noticeable heat. This made me very happy! They look good, are a slight bit brighter than the standard lights, but I like the extra light, especially when I need to clean. It’s a little too bright to look directly at them and with a vaulted ceiling, it can be difficult to avoid from looking directly into the light. Although they don’t have that warm glow when dimmed, they do dim just fine, which makes it easy to adjust the brightness. Overall I am very pleased.

Excellent Energy Efficient Replacements
Grabbed a bunch of these on sale for $71 a four pack. The work well and put out a bright light like the floods we replaced. If the price dropped even more I would rate value higher. Watch for the sale on the four packs!

Excellent light source
We replaced 65w bulbs in the cans in our kitchen. These are much brighter but give off the same type and quality of light as the bulbs we replaced. Lowe's may have a comparable bulb at a lower price, thus the rating of 4 for value.

Excellent Bulb
The bulb is great. It performs just like an incandescent bulb, but without the extra heat generated. The ballistic packaging is annoying, requiring time and effort the get the bulb out, along with the danger of several knife cuts required.

Replaced central interior lighting
Having replaced the main room of my home with these lights, not one guest has noticed that the bulbs were not typical incandescent lights. The difference in power usage has been immediately noticeable and the cost of these bulbs should pay for themselves in about one year! I hope to have 20+ years of use out of these and could not be happier.

Works well
Generally good replacement for the incandescent bulb it replaced. Dims well. Less yellow than incandescent when dimmed. Light is a bit harsher (less diffused) than the incandescent, If you look at the bulb when lit, a wide dark edge is visible. Packaging is excessive, hard to open, and eco-unfriendly plastic clamshell.

Bright, energy efficient
The lights have made my kitchen much brighter. I feel much better having energy efficient lights that also save me money. The bulbs are pricey but are supposed to last forever. I have lots of ceiling lights that are on often. I feel like less of an energy hog using them.

Great replacement for standard 65W recessed flood lights
I purchased these to replace the hard to reach lights that kept burning out above a stairwell. So far, the lighting color is very close to standard incandescent, and I shouldn't have to change it for a long time. (I've been replacing other lights with LEDs as they burn out) As a bonus, it uses 1/5 the energy of the light it replaces!

Perfect replacement for can lights.
Replaced a series of can lights in the kitchen and bathroom that little people would always leave on, fit right in and look just like the original 65w bulbs and should save some money over time! Still a bit spendy in cost but should continue to drop in price, once down to 10$ or below I'll just wholesale all the lights in the house and call it done.

Phillips led bulbs
These are excellent bulbs. There is no delay time with the
brightness as there is with the cfls. They can also be dimmed althought they don't dim as far as incandescent lights. We replaced all of our can lights in the kitchen with these bulbs and the lighting is better than the old incandescents and we expect to save some eletricity as well.

Great Value. Already seeing a return on this investment.
Payback begins immediately on commonly used light fixtures.
I no longer have to chase the kids to turn off the lights. I would not recommend these for infrequently used lights as the payback still takes way too long. I used these in my kitchen can lights, and am very happy with the brightness, actually slightly brighter than the 65w bulbs they replaced. Ever so slight delay in turn-on seems weird, but tolerable.

Packaged well, arrived safe.
I have no complaints except that these were packaged so well that they were hard to remove from the packaging. All of the bulbs work and they are now in my recessed cans. The soft white is very comparable to incandescent which is what I wanted. I was already aware that LEDs don't dim all the way and so that was expected.

Horrible packaging, Great bulb
Have installed about 50 of these so far. The packaging is absolutely horrible and generates a ton of waste: watch your eyes and fingers getting through the heavy plastic. I recommend using some heavy scissors and not a knife. They have a warm almost pinkish hue that my wife prefers. I installed and recommend the 3000k version if you want slightly whiter light. The daylight version has an office environment look--almost fluorescent. They are heavy and seem really well made; time will tell if they get the advertised life.

Best on the market
This is the best ( prob the only ) R20 LED flood light on the market. I agree with all the other reviews.
On the energy saving side, my electric cost w/ distribution is about 18 cents per Kwh. I have 12 lights, and use about 12 hrs per day. The savings is $2.5 per month per bulb vs. a 45W regular bulb. Breakeven in about 10 months. However, if you don't use much, then it prob takes much longer to breakeven on the initial cost.

The BEST BR30 LED light, plus info on "instant on"
I have put in 8 of these so far and plan to put in a total of nearly 40 within the next year. These are outstanding bulbs.
1. Perfect 2700k "soft white" light which is identical in color and quality to incadescents and light years ahead of my old CFLs.
2. Tremendous range of dimming from BRIGHTER than equivalent incandescent down to nearly (not quite but super close) as dim as an incandescent. Tremendous quality.
3. Much cooler running than incandescence and uses less power (I measured 11w vs. the published 13w via a Kill-A-Watt tool).
4. Full brightness the moment they come on vs. minutes with CFLs.
4. INSTANT ON! Yes INSTANT ON! Numerous reviews here knock these bulbs for lacking instant on and their only flaw with a short 1/2 second delay. I too saw this 1/2 second delay and while far faster than the 1+ second delay of my old CFLs... it was there. I was using a Lutron 600w single pole dimmer. I replaced the dimmer with the newer Lutron C-L 600w single/triple dimmer (about $19) which is meant for CFL and LED bulbs and wow... INSTANT ON! These bulbs with the newer dimmer now light INSTANTLY.
Love this product... 'cept for the price!

Great LEDs in Looks, and as an Investment
These lights replaced the incandescent lights we use a lot in the house i.e. the kitchen, hallways, and dining room. The light the LEDs emit looks the same, perhaps slightly brighter looking, than the previous incandescent lights. You can't tell that they're LED lights, even an electrician that came over for another issue thought they were regular flood lights.
They're pricey, but buying them online in clumps of 4 saves you some money. I also found an online coupon to make them even cheaper. Ended up paying about $24 a bulb versus the $30 a bulb at the store. I've had the lights on for several hours and I can still touch them with my hand and they're barely even warm.
Seeing as that they should last over 20 years, I will get my money back in about 4 years and then the 16 years will be all savings.

Excellent Light
We bought one of these to try in our recessed lighting and are thrilled with the light it gives off. It definitely is not a cheap light bulb, but the light it puts off compared to our old flood lights is amazing. I don't notice a delay, as some have stated. It is also a nice streamlined look once it is installed. Nice and soft, yet white, not a dingy yellow. We need to buy several more to now replace all of our lights...well worth the purchase!

OK bulbs, but delay is annoying
The light is warm and matches incandescent bulbs well. The only complaint I have is that the packaging says the bulbs are instant on, but there is a small but noticeable delay when turning them on. This delay can be very annoying. Philips should not label these bulbs instant on.

Save energy with the Philips 13-Watt BR30 indoor flood LED
I bought 2-4 packs of the Philips 13-Watt BR30 indoor flood LED's. They worked great and I plan to buy another 3 packs with my next purchase. They have a momentary delay but are brighter than my previous 65Watt floods. The packaging is a little difficult to open but cut down either side and pull apart and lift out the hefty LED and your good to go.

excellent alternative to incandescent
Very happy with these bulbs so far. The light is very comparable to the incandescents they replace. It's also nice that they dim. I took away one star because they don't dim as far down as normal bulbs, remaining quite bright at the lowest setting. Since the up-front cost is large, I'm depending on them lasting the full warranty period to gain the savings in electrical power usage, but will be holding on to the receipt and proof-of-purchase, just in case!

Exceeded Expectations
Great color and light spread from 2 story ceiling to chair level. Better performance than the incandescent bulbs to our eyes and the energy savings and bulb life are a big bonus.
