Excellent wood, which I've nicked named Morning. I like dressing up like Buford Pusser and walk tall with Morning, cracking skulls, breaking arms.

Short
You usually have to sort through a lot of lumber to find decent wood. The length is short compared to a lumber yard, exactly 8' rather than 8.25. Never again.

soak in oil to get to not rot
these are garbage off the shelf...ive replaced 12 out of 50 due to rot. i have replaced them with ones from a smaller lumber yard at a cheaper price that better controls their purchasing. the ones i am replacing with i am using an old farm trick of soaking the bottom thirds in diesel and used motor oil. keeps weeds away and also fixes the rot problem. only way to do this correctly is to let them soak for a week or two then set them up so they can dry completely out no dripping or weeping of oil.
