Very confused
I am pretty confused about this plant. First and foremost, I knew when purchasing this plant that the "pineapple" would remain small and is not edible. However, I feel from photos posted and other customer reviews that the "pineapple" would eventually turn yellow and remain on the plant until the plant died. I've had mine since April 2020, and my "pineapple" has been a dark pink the whole time. Suddenly a couple weeks ago the stem and "pineapple" started to get squishy and were obviously dying. I also bought my m one of these at the same time, and today she j formed hers is doing the same thing. I joined a Facebook group for people who grow bromeliads and asked what I could do to save it. Many people informed me that this is normal for this plant. The cycle is that it blooms, lives for a little while and then the whole thing dies, and will never bloom again. You have to cut the top off the "pineapple" and plant it to start the entire process over again. I still really enjoyed it while it was alive, but I'm disappointed that this was not clearly explained. I do take responsibility for not doing proper research. The plant came very well packaged and was healthy.
