Customer Reviews for Rheem MiniTank 120-Volt 2.5 Gal. Compact Point of Use Electric Water Heater

I hooked this up under the sink and it only gives me 3 minutes of hot water! Not enough to wash a full sink of dishes! I am returning it to Home Depot.

So far so good. My water usage is minimal...no long showers lol.

Prior to purchasing 2 Rheem mini-tank heaters, the hot water supply for our 2 level house (actually an upper living area with a walkout basement) came from an on-demand heater located downstairs. It still is a good system but we were wasting a lot of water and energy to heat it for our upstairs kichen and 2 bathroom needs. I bought the 1.5 gallon system first to see if it was adequate for our kitchen needs  - it wasn't. Contrary to the 1.5 gallon capacity stated, it only produced 1 gallon - quite a difference - as after I installed it and waited for the tank to heat the water in it (very quick at 5 minutes) I measured the hot water coming from the hot faucet to only be 1 gallon - surprise. Anyway, even if it were to delivery 1.5 gallons, it wouldn't be enough for our kitchen sink needs. Consequently, I moved this heater to supply hot water to 2 basins - not showers - in our master bathroom and a smaller guest/half bathroom. For this purpose it is working very well. I then bought the 2.5 gallon Rheem for our kitchen and that is working very well too. The unit is quiet - it doesn't make a sound - and after the heated water is used, it takes just 5 minutes to heat the next batch. The water is really hot and we haven't got it set on the highest setting. Although we haven't runout of hot water yet - I'm sure we will if we have to fill buckets, etc. However if we adjust the faucets to mix the hot water with cold we will get more warm water than the tank capacity. BTW the stated 2.5 gallon heater only delivers 2 gallons of hot water. Although these are the smallest under-counter tank water heaters we could find, they do take up space and the water hoses that need to be attached to the top of the unit increase the height so that we certainly couldn't have installed a bigger capacity unit. Both the 1.5 gal  and 2.5 gal units fit in our, standard, kichen counter and bathroom vanity though. Bottom line is that these are great heaters and I'd recommend them. We feel less guilty now using any hot water

Pressure relief valve leaks, stopped heating water within 2 weeks. Currently in wheel chair, unable to work on myself. Will have to call someone out

We love this thing!! We placed it under our kitchen sink, combined it with an air switch to make use of the receptacle for the garbage disposal and it works great! Instant hot water after an easy install.

This is the worst experience i have with home depot. I purchased the heater 6 months ago, installed under kitchen sink without any issues, and 6 months later my kitchen flooded at night while we were sleeping, it leaked from the connection where the steam valve connects the tank body. I called 5 times three different phone numbers listed on the manufacture warranty, no one recognizes the product serial number V0121E0032A and no one knows what I should do with it.

Tank arrived in good condition. Was easy to wall mount and plumb. Purchasing from Home Depot.com and transporting to Canada myself saved roughly $50 after all taxes were paid.It seems to be a very good size for a shop sink.

Easy install when you get the right parts,works great. The only thing that irritates me is the relief valve leaks

Use it for hand sink in my pole barn garage. I have a switch to turn it off and on. I have hot water with in 3-4 mins from the time I flip the switch on.

Haven’t had the water heater for long only about a month but so far it’s working pretty good. Have to get adjusted to how long to shower or wash the dishes but overall it works good…

Installed a few weeks ago in a travel trailer to replace an on-demand that pulled too many amps and kept blowing the breaker. Water is very hot. I would buy again.
