i have been the Rust-Oleum products for long time and i trust Rust-Oleum. I purchased this to fix the rusted roof top of an old auto, and it did a good job. I love the titanium silver rather than the just silver alone. It is perfectly dry in 24 hrs and looks great. It was very easy to apply, since you can hold the can in any direction and spray.

I was able to up-cycle my cupboard's handles and hinges for the second time. The first time I used Rust-Oleum Metallic Finish in a hammered dark metal and this time I used a satin nickel after sanding with a green Scotch Brite Pad. They turned out looking brand new and I save several hundred dollars on buying new! They wear very well. In the previous iteration I had small chips after a few years, but the color coming through from the original finish actually helped the metal paint look authentic.

Excellent product. Only needed one can for my project of renewing a plastic outdoor pot. Now out looks like a ceramic pot with beautiful flowers for the house. It has also rained several times since the finished product and the paint has stayed on according to it's claim for outdoor projects.

Great color, holds up overtime. , for example I painted our plastic kitchen trash can this color 10 yrs ago and this paint has held up. I use this color so my kitchen is coordinated. I had also painted the stove exhaust top, my grandfather's scale, the outlet covers, etc. Love rustoleum, love aged copper color.

Nice soft fan pattern, atomized very, very well, and produced a very nice finish. The cans cap was a true representation of color and sheen. I am a retired aircraft painter of 25 years. I was considering a kit of material from an auto paint store @ $ 300+ dollars. Despite the project being very important to me I bought just one can of the Rust-Oleum to see how it would do. After all my careful prep work, the Rust-Oleum proved impressive. The project is not complete in the attached pics, however the steel slats are now completed. William

I purchased bronze light fixtures 20 years ago for my entryway and front of my home. Every 3 years or so I have to repaint them due to the Florida sun. While i normally use the rustoleum, this year I chose Rustoleum Metallic Carbon Mist. Looks BRAND NEW! Actually better than when new.

My only complaint is the spray nozzle. It produces way too much over spray. Why can't it be similar to the 2X spray. Like the color though. It was used as the inside color for drawers on an antique buffet.

Thank you for your feedback! The trigger found on Rust-Oleum Universal Spray Paint and Primer in One is designed to provide any angle spray with comfort in mind. For the best results we recommend, keeping the can in motion while spraying and working in a steady back and forth motion.

I changed a shiny brass lamp to an oil rubbed bronze one with this paint (see Picture.) It was the only fixture in the kitchen that was shiny brass. It still worked fine, and we wanted the same kind just oil rubbed. Now, it's oil rubbed bronze like the rest of the kitchen. You can see how much the lights cost. I made out cheap. It got high WAF. Zoom in to see the "texture" of the paint. As overkill, I did use self etching primer, that I purchased from Home Depot, even though this paint has primer in it.

Very unlike the 'ol style spray can, this can took some gettin' used to. Maybe the trigger wasn't 100% but at first I had trouble depressing the trigger enough for a steady spray. Once it got going though, easy and smooth. Came out better than expected. The can did spit on occasion but that could just be OE (?). The spit didn't leave any noticeable impression. Coverage was excellent and smooth, and dries fairly quickly. Somewhat tacky still after 24 hours, but hopefully with some heat and time. I did lightly scuff the surface (always), and forgot to primer, so I am relying on the Primer-in-One at this point.

Awful. Three coats on a plastic decoration and I got a lightly texture (ie slight grain), semi gloss, gold bronze. As you can clearly see in my photo, the end result does not resemble the cap in any way shape or form. Very disappointed.

That is odd. It sounds like you're experiencing dry spray with Rust-Oleum Universal All Surface Metallic Spray Paint & Primer in One. This is when some of the product dries before it hits the surface of your project. This occurs most often when users hold the can too far from the surface when spraying - our recommendation is 10-16" from the surface. Effects of dry spray can also happen when temperatures are too high or too low. You can try using a lint-free rag slightly damp, and gently wipe the surface to remove the dusting. If it's still rough after doing that, you'll want to sand the surface with a 180 or 220 grit sandpaper and make sure it's clean and dry before recoating. You also want to wait a full 48 hours for the surface to cure so you don't get any wrinkling. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 6 Rustoleum

Highly recommend this for a desired "GOLD" metallic effect. That is beyond just merely a gold like color. Of course to produce the ULTIMATE gold effect, to finish it off and create an incredible "GLEAM", I recommend using RUST-OLEUM 2X GLOSS CLEAR. 1. Give the UNIVERSAL SPRAY 7 minutes to set. 2. 1st coat About 10-11inch from object spray a 1-PASS light dusting of the 2X GLOSS CLEAR. 10 minutes to "settle". 3. 2nd coat About 7inch from object 2-PASS medium spray 2X GLOSS CLEAR. 4. 3rd coat About 5inch from object 3-PASS moving rapidly with the 2X GLOSS CLEAR. I have found the UNIVERSAL "PURE GOLD" to be VERY reactive to the 2X GLOSS CLEAR so the 1st coat must be a light dusting, this "settles" breaking the ice, so too speak between the two components - IF you do a heavy, or even medium 1st coat of 2X GLOSS - I can almost guarantee, it will cause the UNIVERSAL "PURE GOLD" to "scale" and ruin the paint job. Also; notice with each progressive coat of 2X GLOSS CLEAR, you are moving closer and you MUST move faster to avoid drips and puddling - and DO NOT pause during spraying. Without moving closer you will fail to achieve maximum optic clear effect - it will still look pleasant, but will be more "satin" than "gloss". Based on an 65 degree temp - Higher temps=less time between coats. (SEE PHOTOS(PRODUCT PRIOR TO CLEAN UP AND ASSEMBLY)). GOOD LUCK Makers! P.S. This is my experience with the product, your results "may", but should not vary.

I had no problem with the sprayer or coverage, but I do have a problem with the sparkles. I (like many others) wished to switch from a previous finish (mine was bright brass) and update to a nice brushed nickel. This looks like something a 3-year old would love - SO SPARKLY! I sprayed the handles for 18 doors (that's 36 handles!) outside, thinking it would not look so shiny inside - WRONG! I realize it was stupid to keep going (prepped with deglosser and sprayed two coats of paint and one of clear) hoping for a miracle. Learn from my mistakes and consider if this is the best choice for you project.

Thank you for the feedback! Please keep in mind that the color on our spray paint caps is a good indicator of the final finish. We always recommend testing the product first in an inconspicuous area to ensure it is the finish you're looking for. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5 Rustoleum

I've been using Rust-Oleum spray paints for years and they are the best IMO. I've used this new nozzle style Paint + Primer in this Pure Gold Metallic and Green Citrus Gloss. They spray is a little weak and misty so it took some getting used to. I was not happy with it at first but I've gotten used to it and adjusted how I work with it. It may spit a bit at the beginning of each spray so I make sure not to hold the can over the project for the first 1-2 seconds. So far, I've only had to use this product for small coverage areas so it's not a big problem. The paint did apply nice and flat as opposed to the lumpy orange peel surface of the normal Rust-Oleum Gloss paint line. I don't think I would use this product line for large areas that require good surface coverage and consistency. The Metallic gold is excellent for my small projects. Nice color with a hint of glittery sparkle. Has a good shine. I would recommend for small coverage jobs and give the nozzle a good testing.

This paint exceeded my expectations! I was a bit nervous about the sprayer after reading some of the reviews, but experienced no issues with 3 separate cans. I made sure that the paint was at room temperature before starting and wiped the sprayer after finishing each coat. The paint was used to repaint a ceramic lamp as well as outdoor Tiki lamp poles. The paint sprayed evenly and covered each item in with two coats. I would definitely purchase this paint again.

The color on this paint is great and durable but the sprayer is inconsistent. My wife wanted to 'upgrade' our daughter's play kitchen so I painted the faucet and handles for it with this gold. It is a really nice somewhat 'sparkly' color and a durable coat but I really had to get used to the sprayer. It sprays light at first then is thicker in a narrow stream with alot of lighter side spray. I have also used these 'handle' type sprayers from Rust-Oleum before and had similar issues. It leads to a lot of wasted paint as I concentrate harder on not globbing the paint. I was using a standard type spray can in white for the sink at the same time and the difference between the two was very noticeable.
