So far, this castable refractory cement has been performin g as advertised. A lot cheaper this way than ordering pre-cast fire bricks for my wood stove!

So far, so good! Haven't lit the fire yet! You do have to work crazy fast with this stuff....it sets very quickly! Otherwise OK

I made 4 refractory panels for a wood burning fireplace insert. 1) 16.5" x 17" 2) 16.5" x 17" 3) 18.5" x 18" 4) 16.5" x 31" x 20" x 16.5" (trapezoid shape) Thickness of each panel was 1/2". I used a total of 75lbs of Refractory Cement and added 2 lbs of 1" refractory needles. The cement drys to a very, light grey....almost white. Rutland customer support said to cover all sides of the mold with plastic for 24-hours. This is to keep the moisture from evaporating so the cement sets properly.

It was easy to use and works great! You should keep in stock in the stores.

Rutland Refractory dries really fast do not recommend using this for setting fire brick.

I found the substance to be liquidity based on their measurements at first. I found that the dry mixture was not mixed well enough. When I mixed the dry mixture in the bucket prior to weighing, it turned out to be the right consistency. The instructions need to say mix prior to use if you are not using the entire bucket.

Used this to repair a broken BGE fire box. Worked great. Trick is to use low heat to cure after air dry. Too high heat will cause joint to separate.

have made several panels 1 1/2 inch thick, for my wood stove. Very easy to work with. Just follow simple instructions. once hardened, it is possible to cut with a cement saw.

So far so good, haven't fired up the forge yet but application was easy.

I used this product to mold two panels that replace warped cast iron panels in an obsolete coal stove. It was easy to work with and so far seems to be holding up well. I still have enough left to mold another set.

Works great, replaced broken refractory tiles at base inside of fireplace with this stuff.

Just what I needed wish it was in store stock

I was trying to use this to mortar in a fireplace door on a stone fireplace. I should have paid more attention to a former review about the plasticizer but the product info said it was for wide spaces. Needless to say it is not made for vertical or overhead work. It is only suitable for flat work where the plasticizer will make it flow and conform.

Very good product. I’m very happy with the outcome.
