As a slow ferlizer it does the trick! Makes your lawn green and thick. As for óverseeding really dint notice a lot of germination, I Kept the seed moist and followed The directions .. it did a good job.

I bought Scott’s Sun and Shade because of the location (behind the garage) I wanted to fill in. I used both the bag seed and compost to start and watered every day for about two weeks. I’m please with how well it came in and only have a few patches I need to go back and fill.

I moved into a new construction house with a garbage lawn (1/2 acre) and am working on small sections at a time. The bag says this covers 4,000 square feet but that’s a lot of watering to keep up with every day for 3 weeks. My lawn was bad enough that I decided to apply the whole bag to just 2,000 square feet for double coverage. The pictures tell the story - taken exactly 3 weeks after application and watered 19 out of 21 days. I have another 2,000 square foot section I’m tackling next but I plan to mix additional seed with the THICK’R LAWN product to better fill the bald spots. I will also be applying an entire bag at double the rate (4,000 sq ft of product in a 2,000 sq ft area). I should also note that this was from June 18 - July 9, in Southern PA; not exactly the best time to grow grass but I kept up with the watering and it did well in spite of the heat.

I planted grass after laying down new top soil Memorial weekend and I have only a few small patches of grass growing by July 4th weekend I honestly expected more from Scotts brand grass seed, I bought 2-40lb bags along with Scotts turf builder weed and feed

The content label says .01% weed seed. This is not .01%. I expect more from a leading national brand!

Last fall, we removed a deck to add more greenspace to our lawn. We purchased this to seed in the fall (with proper watering), and allow for winter to do it's work. I now have the patchiest lawn I've ever seen! A few spots grew in, but certainly not "Thick'R" nor the advertised 50% thicker lawns. In addition, there are a number of weed (which happens) and a lot of crabgrass, as mentioned by another reviewer. I'm beyond disappointed in this product.

I used Scott’s thick'r lawn bermuda grass seed but now my lawn is full of weeds or the grass I can’t recognize. They must made huge mistake which should impacted many Bermuda customers. My lawn is full of crap and not sure how can I get rid of this unwanted grass.

I used this after detaching lawn and over seeding. I was fortunate to have almost 2 weeks of staright rain. This product worked great on my lawn. I will definitely buy again. Word of advice...buy the big bag so you dont have to rebuy more

I saw no results whatsoever. It’s been few weeks now. Very disappointed.

First seeded Mar 27 and made sure to dethatch bu raking and water 10 min 3 times a day for the first 2-3 weeks. Also later hand applied a lot to the bare areas and put some Scotts topsoil over the seed to keep them moist. Could see some growth by April 10 but maybe because it was a cool spring, I didn’t think it worked. But this pic is from May 12 and the difference is huge. I started with a lot of bare spots and thin (mostly weed) lawn and now it looks really green and awesome. And keeps getting thicker every day. It really works - just like it says: Thickr Lawn. But just have to do the work, watering and special treatment with topsoil for bare spots. But it will pay off!

Was skeptical this seed mix would revitalize a weed infested side yard but spending some time with feed and weed and then applying this mix it started off a bit worrisome as it didnt look as thick but now after the Winter its thriving! Will definitely buy more every year to reseed when needed.

We had a new lawn installed last summer that came up very thin this year. I Used this product a month ago. It did green up the existing grass, but did nothing to fill in or thicken the lawn. Only giving it 2 stars because it did fertilize. Maybe it needs more than 4 weeks. If it suddenly comes up I'll adjust my review accordingly. Very disappointed at this point though. No signs of any new growth.

I cannot begin to express my obsession with this product. I wasn’t sure how the results would be, so I only did two sections of my yard to “test it out” in October 2020 (SE PA), needless to say, it works! Check out my pictures (screenshot the photos to capture date/time) to see just how well it works! I loved the results so much, I’m currently working on the rest of my yard (applied some more to other parts of the yard a week ago). I will be sure to update my review soon, but hoping to have the same results in the rest of the yard!

When I got this product I was skeptical but as you can see, it works and filled in the space good. I will use Scott's products for all my yard needs.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received a sample in late October after the first freeze and thought it would be too late for good results or results of any kind. We were still getting the occasional day above 50 so l tried it anyway. By the end of November I was no longer expecting results and there was no germination as we had a few snow storms and freezing temperatures, fortunately snow doesn’t usually stay on the ground here more than a couple of days. In the middle of December I was on my way to the basement to get my snowblower for an upcoming storm and passed the seeded areas. I had sprouts an inch tall! The seed was good and the mixture potent enough to germinate on a longer schedule despite the freezing weather and occasional snow. Now in the end of January the grass is still slowly growing and apparently established well enough to make it to the spring.

This product really made my lawn look a lot better with it's durable build in yard treatment's. My yard really needed an upgrade due to the dry summer months. This product gave the rough patches in my yard a better outlook. This lawn treatment gave my lawn the attention it needed. I definitely will recommend this product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had a landscape company overseed my fescue yard. There were a few bare spots that I used this product to fill in. Works great. Make sure you follow the instructions entirely, especially keeping the seed mixture wet once you spread it.

Worked just as advertised! I do think the prep work prior to seeding was a big factor in the end result!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Have a shade/sun area on a sloped corner of my backyard that also tends to get lots of runoff during rainstorms, so growing anything is a bit of challenge. All I did in October was scarify the soil to remove some zoysia thatch and give the seed a better chance of growing. Three weeks later, about 80% of the seed took despite three 1/2 - 1" showers. I'll apply more seed to the thinnest spots in the foreground of the first picture tomorrow, hopefully it will take as well. Good product, will look forward to seeing how it holds up with our summers here next.

My only regret was I had to stand frequently and act like a scare crow to guard against those pesky birds having a feast on the seeds. I may have to buy some Scotts Bermuda seeds next spring to cover some spots for the summer of next year.

Applied Scott’s Thick R Lawn on Sept 27th and watered every other day!

After dethatching my lawn at the end of August, I threw down two 40# bags of Scotts Thick'R Lawn the next week on Sep 5th. Watered every day, we just entered a drought that week apparently, it did not rain for 6 weeks. I had never watered the lawn previously, having been at my current house for 2 years. Its relaxing to be out there diligently nursing the lawn to life. I also added a little extra seed for my front lawn to cover some larger bare spots. After two weeks or so I could see improvement. After 6 weeks spectacular. I wish I had a picture right after dethatching for comparison. If you want a good looking lawn it takes work, this helps make it easy. The grass is dark green and very full. I mow it pretty tall, mostly tall fescue. I never could see new seed sprouts, as my lawn was already established. But it clearly has improved. Neighbors give me all sorts of compliments for my yard.

I applied this about 3 weeks ago and noticed that while it didn't grow anything in some spots, there is some new growth happening in others. However, I noticed the shape of the leaves is a bit odd... it's clover! The majority of what's coming up is clover. I guess I'll have to buy more Scott's weed & feed to kill what I just paid them to grow. Really disappointed.

Put this down in the spring on a weak lawn that has lots of hard pan (clay) soil. Aerated it first and then spread it with Scott’s Rotary on 9. I have inground irritation system so watering was easy. But I think it’s key as I tried year before with mediocre results (didn’t use irrigation as regularly). I did another application in mid September and the lawn looks great!

Anyone who says this burns the lawn is not applying per the settings. Use the correct settings for the type of dispenser you have and you will have amazing results. This did wonders earlier this year and applied again just now and again did wonders. Grass is super thick and green and the envy of the neighborhood. What a product. I’ll apply again in late March or April for sure!!!!

I bought this product one month ago and its working amazing! I had some work done in my yard putting asphalt down leaving a mess and a massive dirt patch. I applied this and in a week I started to see growth. I tilled the dirt first to loosen the dirt up, spread the dirt evenly and applied my first seed. Then I raked in the seed gently and applied another one with the Scott's broadcast spreader. Following the directions on the bag I used it on setting 9, and the results are great!

Short and to the point—— followed instructions to the T. Cut down to 2 inches, raked, roughed up dead spots and watered as instructed. After two weeks my lawn was thicker and greener

I purchased this seed for the front lawn to fill out some areas and what grew was literally 95% weeds and maybe 3 strands of grass
