Used this to fix a leaking poorly done solder joint at a previous repair in a water service at the house riser. Water company curbside shutoff would not close completely, this slip joint allowed for a quick fix even with the water still trickling from the service line.

It's very hard to slip the copper pipe inside this coupling even using the release tools. I am the man with lots of strength, but even I cannot operate it. Especially during the job, you cannot move back and forth once you push in the pipe. For this problem, I wasted a one. Very bad design! The company should test it's usage in all working positions (upper, lower, vertical, horizontal, angle, far and close to the body, not just horizontal close to your body).

Hi Amos, thank you for your feedback on the 1 in. SharkBite Slip Coupling. We will make sure this information is shared with our product managers. When using the Slip Coupling, it is important to make sure that the plastic beige collar is fully compressed into the fitting using the Disconnect Clip or Disconnect Tongs before pulling on the fitting to ensure that the stainless steel teeth inside the fitting are fully disengaged from the pipe. We are sorry about your experience with this fitting and if you need further assistance please feel free to give our Customer Service Team a call so we can help (1-877-700-4242). SharkBiteCashAcme

Easy solution to a tricky problem and it was used in combination with a slip 1” ball valve at the suggestion of the tech personnel at Shark Bite. If you have a plumbing problem, I highly recommend these products and the tech support is the best.

I have an older home and several places on the main water line I had pinhole leaks. Some places were really tight or very close to framing and joists in the basement where traditional soldering was going to be difficult or next to impossible. I was skeptical about SharkBite fittings. But these Push-to-Connect slip Couplings have saved me $$$ and have held up over time. It has been three years since I did the first two and I have gotten more pinholes on the line. It is getting to the point of redoing the whole line at some point, but until then. These work great.

Quick and easy fix to punctured pipe
When a nail found a 3/4" pex pipe during this weekend's framing project, this DIYer thought a plumber would be required to put a stop to the newly-created gusher. I gave this slip coupling a try, though I was skeptical. To my surprise, this unit was not only incredibly easy to install, it works like a charm, saving me an embarrassing call to the plumber, and possibly even my marriage! Highly recommended!

      Bad for tight area
I don't know if it's the area or not, but I followed instructions very carefully. The slip end went on perfect. It will not budge now after inserting the other pipe. The pipe is in about a 1/4 inch. Not nearly far enough. I've tried everything. WD40, tapping with a wrench, now I'm stuck. It won't go on all the way, and won't come off either. So frustrating, been at this hours. I'll try again tomorrow

Good afternoon, We are sorry to hear the issue you are having with our product. We understand that our fittings can be hard to come off at times. What may have happened to you is the grip ring dug into the copper pipe and is having difficulties releasing. What you can do is try pushing the fitting back into the direction as if you were putting it onto the pipe. Making sure the fitting does not move, slid the disconnect clip up to the collar and compress it in. Once you see the collar go inside the fitting, pull on the fitting. You may have to twist and turn the fitting to get the teeth to release.
        Not easy to install
I needed a quick fix for my sprinkler outlet and tried this product. I watched the video and got my pieces cut and went to install. The barbs never bit as designed even after making sure the pipe was inserted correctly. I wasting a lot of time trying over and over. I noticed the barbs were flattened. When I tried turning on the water both ends leaked.

Good afternoon, We have not heard of this issue before. You say the teeth were flattened. That sounds like somewhere along the transit, someone pushed them in. We test these items prior to shipping them. We are not sure how yours would have got passed quality. We will take note of this and are extremely sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. Please give our customer service team a call at 1-877-700-4242 between 8 am - 6 pm est Monday through Friday and we will be happy to see what we can do to resolve this issue.
Sharkbite Slip Coupling used with pex
I was hoping to use this slip coupling to repair the copper water main entering the house. Due to some settling, I had to use a three foot section of 1" pex to make the repair. The packaging for this product says it is for copper or cpvc, but it does not indicate pex. I can report it does work with pex on the "non-slip" end of the coupling. Just make sure the plastic pex stiffener is installed in the pex tubing and then slip the coupling up to the stop like a normal Sharkbite fitting.

          Great for repair
Couln't shut off main water supply to repair copper pipe. Shark bite slids over section to repair and finished. Repairs only took under 3 minutes. Digging hole and removing water took longer. If you think about it, the water could have stayed. I was sceptical about sharkbite and I am a beleiver
