Thread too short - strips holes
These strip holes too easily. You can barely tighten them. A little to tight and the wood will strip. Needed to use regular lag screws instead.

Those fastgeners are designed only for installation of several (not all) of our steel connectors. For an actual lag screw alternative, we have a different series of screw called the SDWS that may be a more suitable option. See our website at www.strongtie.com and enter SDWS in search box. Combined with MiTek 2 in. x 2 in. x 6 in. G185 12-Gauge Angles they make a fearless support strategy for a deck staircase. The self tapping coating is flawless, I will buy them again.

Having used Simpson strong tie screws in the past, I went for these again. Great for securing hurricane hangers and joist hangers. This time I used an impact driver. Everything worked perfectly.

Great screw! I used it to attach heavy duty shelves to studs in a shed wall. In theory you don't need to drill pilot holes, but I did in order to avoid the risk of splitting the studs.
