I had to repair my mailbox posr where the bottom 4” was damaged from termite. I cut off the damaged part and installed two post bases to anchor it to the brick base. I was able to anchor them securely without any problem of getting loose or mitigate from further termite damages without the need for anchoring with cement. At the base, I used the two 2” long bolts to each of the 3/8” holes on each side. I love the fact that having two split anchor base will fit almost any 3-4 inch wooden post.

I used this to set a 4x4 post in some concrete. Was it necessary? I don't know. It seem to provide some stability in setting the post
