I bought one 6 months ago and thinking of getting another just like the 9960. I have two sewing places in my house with another machine I would not have to carry it from one place to another. 9960 is. great machine.

I bought this machine for myself to replace an 20yr old Kenmore machine. After taking my Mom’s new 9960 machine for a ‘test-sew’ I knew this was the right one for me as well. The 9960 sews so smoothly. The price was fantastic and shares so many features of many of the more expensive brands.

I've only had this machine about a month and I love it so far. So much to learn yet, but I'll get there!

The machine I purchased, Quantum Stylist 9960 is a replacement for my old machine Touchtronic 1000. That machine was 48 years old and a magnificent machine. I just purchased the 6690 so I am getting use to it. So far, it is doing a very good job of meeting my needs. It is working very well and I look forward to using it as I learn how to use all the new features.

I have made SO many beautiful quilts on my Singer Quantum Stylus! i love all the features and i have had no issues. i do recommend an annual service to keep it clean and running smoothly. I even bought one for my daughter who is now a quilter. Such a great machine for the money.

I purchased this machine earlier this year. Initially it sewed fine and I was extremely happy with its performance. But I’m finding a few things with the performance of the machine now that is causing some frustration. You should know that my primary use for this machine is quilting which the machine should be able to manage. 1) Each time I start sewing/piecing there is always a little nest underneath. It doesn’t stop sewing but makes quilt piecing look messy and causes a bit more bulk in those corners (even after cleaning, oiling, changing needles, etc) 2) you MUST clean the bobbin casing frequently - I do this after every 2 or 3 bobbins, multiple times for each quilting project, 3) you must use 50 weight thread, anything heavier causes the bobbin thread to show on top no matter how much tension adjusting you do, 4) you will have to change the needle frequently depending on your usage, 5) the machine doesn’t sew multiple pieces of fabric very well, like when machine sewing quilt bindings, it doesn’t sew the corners very well, I have to use a tool to help out the feed dogs to prevent nesting which causes the stitch underneath to not always look neat and uniform. In general the features are nice but the machine is too finicky, and I’m not sure it’s good for quilting in my opinion.

The Quantum Stylist 9960 for as little as I've used it seems to be quite a machine. I'm comparing it to a circa 1958 Singer Model 401A . The Singer 401A can do most of the stitches the Quantum can but it is an older machine and has its moments. The smoothness and precision of the Quantum is amazing, however I am a male, age 60 something and I find the throat area (for lack of a better name) is quite small for my hands to manuver around. So far good they say, I havent had to remove any stitches from my fingers yet. other than that I think the Thread spool area could use a little revamping also. Maybe not.

When I first bought the QS I thought it was a fun little machine. Now that I've had it for three years, I think it's the best machine money can buy. There is no fabric this thing won't sew through---mine has even sewed through zip ties hot-glued into a corset boning. Today I dropped the entire machine on the floor and it turned right back on, sewing in a dead straight line with no guidance. If you are wondering what machine to buy for clothing, crafts, corsets, and craziness, this is the one.

I love my new Quantum. I just started using it and despite my fears that it would be hard to figure out, I keep finding myself saying, " Wow! That was easy.".

So easy to use. As an everyday sewer I find the thread cutter a great thread and time saver.

I've had this machine (9960) for a few years and only several months ago I began using it more frequently. I mostly sewed quilting cotton, never a bunch of layers. Since I used a couple of colours only and used the only bobbins it came with the machine, I had no issues. Then I ran out of bobbins and bought Singer class 15 bobbins as recommended. I started having bobbin thread tension. I tried everything the manual suggests but nothing worked. I watched a video of two Quantum Stylist 9960 manufactured in different years being compared. I learned that my machine actually came with Class 15J bobbins, so I compared the bobbins that came with my machine and the Singer class 15 bobbins that are recommended and bought. I couldn't believe the difference! I ended up ditching all class 15 bobbins for class 15J ones. It was only then I was able to correct the bobbin thread tension. I honestly do not understand why Singer would place class 15J in the machine, provide a few more, then recommend class 15. Honestly, is it create our machine problems so we buy a new one from them? I will keep this machine, as a backup, I am already looking at another machine to use as the main one. I am rating this two stars because of the time I spent trying to fix my tension, losing time when I could have completed my projects, and the time and gas I spent picking up bobbins which were very hard to find.

My girlfriend had this one. And wanted to purchase it again. She stated that this machine does everything she needs to do. Fabulous.

Wonderful machine that I purchased to replace my old, aging Kenmore (35 years old). I haven't tried all of the features yet, but the instructions seem familiar and easy to follow (similar to old machine). Looking forward to many years of sewing with this machine.

Brand new machine, never been used and cannot even get the bobbin to engage. Super displeased considering how much this sewing machines costs.

Wow, where do I start? After months of research, I settled on my decision to purchase the Quantum Stylist 9960. I watched every YouTube video about it and by time it arrived in June, I knew just about everything on how to use it. This machine is awesome. It is capable of doing everything a sewing lady wants it to do. For the past two months, I have put it to the test while sewing three quilts, pin cushions, pillowcases, stuffed animals, placemats, table runners, pot holders, etc. and it runs effortlessly. There are so many sewing attachments and I am learning to use them all. Every sewing feature on the QS 9960 is sooo easy to learn and do. The extension table is a valuable "must have" for quilting and it came as part of the accessories. The purchase of the QS 9960 has turned my sewing room into "My Happy Place."

I ordered the Quantum Stylist 9960 and it was shipped promptly. After unpacking and discovering the hard copy of the manual, I read it cover to cover, then watched the beginning videos on bobbin winding, threading the upper thread and other technical instructions. Once I began practicing sewing, eeverything was so easy, smooth and fun! No more thread problems, needle problems,etc. Plus the Quantum came with a cover, multiple presser feet, and lots and lots of extras thrown in for my sewing convenience and enjoyment. I am so happy this was the choice I made after studying my choices to compare and contrast.

I just started quitting and I love my Singer machine. I like the 1/4” foot.

I’ve had my machine for about three weeks. Thus far it operates well. I like the minimum speed. It is very helpful when making tight, complicated turns. Operation is smooth and consistent. I am still learning its quirks and haven’t tried all of its functions. The threader doesn’t work. It looks like the little thread hook has broken off. Please add a “low bobbin” warning.

Overall, I like the machine. I have never been able to use the automatic thread cutter because it jams and does not cut the thread completely. There are lots of stitch options. Wish there was a cat stitch, similar to the dog one.

I really spent some time doing my research before purchasing this machine. I think it’s going to pay off. Just getting started on my first quilt with my new machine. The new one is light years ahead of what I’ve been using so there’s a bit of a learning curve but I already love it. Also I love that I was able to receive the bundle of extras that came with it! Wish there was a Singer dealer in Oklahoma though. Ordered it on line and received it quickly. Very pleased with my purchase!

Height adjustment screw broke the first time I used the machine and I cannot find a local repair shop to fix the problem. Part number I need is 416401301 and I cannot find it anywhere

Overall very pleased with this purchase—4.5/5 stars. It’s easy to use and works beautifully, except for the needle threader (I’ve seen this on other reviews too; annoying but not a dealbreaker from me since I’m upgrading from a machine that didn’t have one at all). The first machine Singer sent was broken badly enough that I didn’t even try using it, but the process of exchanging it was fairly painless and I had a functioning machine within two weeks of originally ordering it.

Very smooth, quiet and easy to use. One of the presser feet was cracked, but Singer replaced almost immediately. Excellent machine and customer service.

I am a beginner and I love technology also. I need a machine who will help me start stress free and that fits with the modern days. This is the only machine that made me trust that I can do it. I have also try it and is my dream.

Love the macine and have found great on line videos as tutorials. Only concern is known issues with thread cutter
