$1000 machine broke in less than 2 months, manufacturers warranty next to useless
I bought this washing machine less than two months ago: installed, it cost just under $1000. And it’s already broken. It is supposed to be a “smart” machine - meaning that it has some sort of an internal sensor that tells it when to spin, when to drain, etc. all of the push of a button. The problem is, when the button doesn’t work, i’m stuck with an entire washer-full of disgusting dirty water and no way to override it. It’s technically under manufacturer warranty — yet they can’t get out here for another two weeks, so it’s basically a useless $1000 paper weight full of nasty water. Also, if you buy the extended warranty, heads up that it doesn’t kick in until the manufacturer warranty (1 year) is over. Nice little game they have going there. I am so incredibly displeased. I thought whirlpool was supposed to be a quality brand, but I’ve had better luck with knock off brands from China. I would highly recommend avoiding this machine, this manufacturer, and pretty much everything about this situation.

I hate this machine. It has torn up and put holes in so many of my clothes. It is noisy and bounces across the floor! I thought it was not supposed to get unbalanced. How does that even happen?? I’ve never had issues with any other washer before. That is the last straw for me. It sounds like a rocket taking off and the entire machine wobbles around the room. O loved my last Whirpool Cabrio washer, but not this one. I have to drain and spin after every load. I have not had it more than 4 months! What a horrible experience, I am SO unhappy!

Unfortunately this machine does a very poor job of removing dirt from clothing, even with the agitator. We've always purchased Whirlpool appliances and this is the first one we have not been completely satisfied with. Our previous top load Whirlpool washer lasted over 20 years and we were very happy with it. If you work outside, or have kids that get dirt on their clothes, look elsewhere. This is not the same technology as the older top load machines with agitators. When we can afford it we will be replacing it.

      Would not recommend
I absolutely strongly suggest, if possible, to install an agitator! Trust me, if only there was video option then you can see for yourself that the laundry will not get fully or thoroughly proper clean. At least with the agitator will aggressively move laundry!!! This impeller style did not. Also when in spin cycle's the washer bounced around. Definitely make sure to do small load's. Look at the picture with Downy ball and notice wash selection didn't release fabric softener. Not happy at all!!!!!

        Excellent So Far
I have now had this washer for about 3 weeks now, bought the set for my wife as an early Christmas present and she’s loving them, has a couple flaws not to fond of, like mentioned before in other reviews, the softener issue, easy fix though buy detergent with softener in it. Also the washer has long pauses during the whole cycle on some settings. But overall very pleased !!! I haven’t incurred any of the complaints of others with the water issue (not having enough), wobbly machine, clothes twisted, unclean clothes, and etc.. All my clothes have come out clean and smelling fresh, wrung out prefect and into the super dryer. The auto sensor on the dryer is excellent, drys clothes very quickly . Well from the Brown Family and our use of the set so far we would definitely recommend.

          Do not buy
I can’t explain the frustration I feel with this washer. Instead of a solution to my home needs has been a headache of a problem. It’s super slow to wash. It washes very little clothes. The water capacity is very low. I am not happy at all with this washer. Do not buy!!!

            Reasonably priced, overall good value
Have had this washer for about a month and half. Pros: Reasonably priced. Washes well. Roomy, since there is no agitator in the middle. Simple to use, once you read the instructions. Uses less water. Cons: Too noisy. At times, sounds like an airplane is taking off inside the house. Since it senses the level of clothes, you cannot set it and forget it. You have to keep an eye on it so that you can add the softener when it goes into the rinse cycle. In addition, the whole process of it sensing the amount of clothes that are in the washer means that the loads take longer to wash. It locks. If you need to add more clothes or forget to add detergent, you have to pause it and wait for it to stop completely before it will unlock.

I love the capacity of this machine. I can easily wash queen size comforters in there and the agitator makes sure it will get a nice deep clean. My favorite part about the washer is that I am able to pre-soak and select my water level, which is appreciated. I don't like that there's sort of a half moon when the top is open, as I feel like it has clothes catch but it's really not enough to ding it an additional star. It's already not as easy to pull out clothing due to the agitator (I'm used to a top load without one) so the half moon was unexpected. Overall very pleased with the machine thus far. It works well, cleans well and it's nice to have an agitator again after so long.

              Does not last!
I bought my washer two years ago. I am now doing the review. The paint on the inside of the drum is chipping off and the lid has rusted. It does not spin sometimes and I have to turn it to another cycle to get it to spin and drain. I was hoping it would last longer than 2 years.

The Whirlpool 4.2 cubic inch top loading washing machine has many great features and is a easy machine to operate. The tub is stainless steel and is huge, allowing to wash big loads instead of 2 smaller loads. Has all of the features that you would normally use and is a simple machine to operate. It has an auto water level sensing feature that makes sure you have the correct amount of water. It also comes with a one year warranty.

The Whirlpool 4.2 cu. ft. White Top Load Washing Machine with Agitator is much better than my my last washer. I am 5'5" tall and my last washer was very difficult for me to reach the bottom and remove clothes. This one with the agitator is not as deep so I am able to do the task of removing clothing without a problem. My last washer didn't have an agitator and I think the clothing is cleaner than before. I like the control as they are easy to use, a lot of setting for different wash situations. Make sure to fill out the warranty card.

This washer was a lifesaver for me. My last one was giving out and I needed a new one bad. This one was popular and came up in my radar. I was sold with how easy and quiet it is during its loads. It has tons of options for washing and I love the presoak feature. Especially with the really stinky clothes that we get after working out etc. The delivery was really nice and quickly set up so thumbs up for that.

I must say when the technician installed this machine, I was impressed. The washer has a very deep tub, the fact that I can wash my queen size coverlet without the machine straining is very impressive. There is a setting for just about everything. Very small loads to heavy duty loads. Awesome! There is even a cycle to clean the machine. This washer is very quiet when it is in operation and that is another big plus. And get this it not only has a softner dispenser, it has a bleach dispenser also. What a time saver

I have always liked Whirlpool appliances, both for their quality and that they are (were) made in America. Just a quick point about the origin of manufacture - though there is a label on the face of the appliance that says "An American Company" I was unable to find any evidence that this appliance is actually Made in America - I just hope so. The washer is very easy to operate with no complicated electronic buttons - just setting dials. Definitely read the quick start guide to understand the functions of each setting to get the most value from this washer. On the inside of the lid, there is also a guide to settings and cycles. There is a set of indicator lights on the panel that tells you the progress of the wash but other than a "done" indicator light, it does not signal when a wash is finished as do other models. I did note that in operation, the lid either locks to prevent opening during spin cycle or pauses the machine when the lid is opened during operation - a good safety feature. The washer is very noisy during operation compared to others I have owned which is why I only gave 4 stars for quality. They could have built this machine with an insulated lining to abate some of the noise & possibly used a heaver gauge metal cabinet & lid. It also bangs when switches or relays & valves open & close. Otherwise, it does a fine job of washing clothes.

My washer was delivered by helpful professionals. My husband installed the washer himself. We have had it now for over a month and haven’t had one issue with it. At first I thought it sounded a little loud when starting but now it runs all times of the day and no one ever notices it. You can’t hear it from another room. I would recommend this especially for people with larger bedding. I had read reviews on a delay when starting it but if you read the directions it does say to hold in the power button to start. There isn’t a delay it’s just not a manual machine so the computer is registering the settings you have set for that wash. Works great!

The Whirlpool washing machine is the industry standard for a well made, residential use machine that lasts for years and does its job well - This machine is right up there with that group. A top loader for all of you who don't like the moisture issues with a front loading machine. It has a strong heavy agitator for the bulky loads and is very energy efficient and detergent efficient so it will not cost you too much for each load. I highly recommend this washing machine.

Wonderful Washer! This Whirlpool 4.2 cu. ft. White Top Load Washing Machine with Agitator has the size, control and efficiency to be your washer for the next 20 years. It is as clean inside and out, as it is functional. Starting with the delivery; it was shipped on a truck with a lift gate, so the delivery was simple and quick. The product packaging was well designed to ensure there was no damage during storage, shipping, handling and delivery. Protective film over the control panel also ensured no scratches during handling and shipping. Well designed for home deliveries. Installation itself is also quick and easy. Connect the water and drain lines, and plug it in is all that is needed. It has levelling feet if that needs to be adjusted. The control panel has 12 cycles to choose from, along with controls for Soil Level, Water Temperature, Water Level and Spin Settings. The system also can detect water levels automatically based on the size of the load. There is a Quick Wash setting for small loads and it all is operated with a simple push-button start. The engineering is excellent as well. The unit has a two-way wash action agitator that attacks and removes soil. The stainless steel basket will stay clean for many years. The 4.2 cu. ft. capacity allows large, bulky loads to be washed too. With spin speeds up to 660 RPM much of the water is removed making your drier work more quickly and efficiently. Even with all these features, the energy guide estimates annual cost of operation to be just $25! This is a modern, State-of-the-Art, top-load washer and I highly recommend it.

This thing is HUGE! We are so happy to have a 2020 model washer. We replaced our 20 year old washer with this Whirlpool washer and could not be happier. We are very impressed by the size of the drum. We went from doing 4 sets of laundry a week to just 2. The controls are simple, knobs and buttons, no fancy electronics. We feel like the washer is pretty quiet. That being said we are comparing it to a 20 year old washer. Overall we are very satisfied with this product.

This washer is state of the art and top of the line! It has a stainless steel tub and a heavy duty motor. The spin cycle on this washer will almost completely dry your cloths. I have never seen such a high speed spin cycle. The washer has many different wash cycles and is solid state. No more twisting the timer and pulling a knob. It's all dials and buttons. The water level is either auto sensing or a deep water large load level. The washer senses when the load is ready and begins the cycle. One note of caution. Make sure that this washer is level and well set on the floor. The spin cycle will wobble this washer all over the floor if it is out of plum just a bit.

                Terrible
I bought the washer and dryer set 4-5 years ago. About 2 years ago the dryer quit heating off and on and the washer fabric dispenser wouldn’t dispense. I tried to get service then but to no avail other than someone cleaned the washer back hoses. Now they are both worthless pieces of junk. The washer shakes so loudly you can hear it upstairs. It leaves clothes soaking wet and takes about 2 hours to cycle and clothes are not clean. Detergent is now sticking to everything. Dryer takes 3-4 cycles to dry towels on high heat. 2-3 cycles for normal laundry. I will never ever buy whirlpool appliances or sister brands again unless some one can help! Worst appliances I’ve ever owned. Troubling shooting wait time of 30 minutes!!

                  Worst I have ever owned
We have always purchased Whirlpool washers and dryers. Our first one lasted 21 years., replaced a belt once and we loved it..it had an agitator. I highly doubt this one will make it past 5. We've owned it for about 2 years. It has stopped spinning properly so the clothes are always left way too wet, as in soaked. You can get it to re-spin so it isn't broken, but who has time to be re-spinning it three times? I do not overload the washer. When we are upstairs doing other things we can surely hear it running..our old one was much more quiet. A washer NEEDS AN AGITATOR to get clothes fully clean and spread detergents through the load fully. I use the 'deep water wash' cycle to get enough water flowing..but there is always detergent (not cheap crap) left in the washer on the clothing when it's done. If I add baking soda to break down the germs and hard water, it's all still on the clothes when they are supposedly done being "washed". The washer does not allow for a water fill before starting it's way too long "sensing" cycle. This creates an issue as proper clothes washing is; add clothing, water, THEN detergents. You can't pick your load size. Would never ever recommend this washer to anyone, it's junk. BUY ONE W AN AGITATOR, they are for clean clothes..not a status symbol. Let's get back to washers that work Whirlpool.

It is definitely better than the washer I had previously. I love that it holds a lot and does not have an agitator. I also really like the soak feature. I have had some issues with it getting unbalanced and then you have to totally stop the load so that you can open it and then start over from the beginning. The other issue is that a few times the load has still been wet after cycle completes but I have been able to just run spin cycle again only and that fixes.

User friendly. Clean, modern design. Very large tub, can wash a large load, including blankets, quilts, comforters. It spins the water out very well, and I love the extra rinse & pre-soak features. It also runs very quietly. I had a front loader for 8 years and I'm so glad I switched back to a top loader. We are a family of five so it gets a lot of use. Some other folks' reviews said it shook, was noisy, or "walked" across the floor. Make sure your washer is level by adjusting the feet in front; most floors aren't level. I've had this washer for a month and loving it!

The washer was delivered on time and the delivery crew were polite and professional. They installed it and did a test run before leaving. That is where the positive experience ended. This washer does not clean well at all! It leaves residue and lint behind on the clothes. I've tried different cycles and detergents. I never had this issue with my previous LG washer that I also bought from Home Depot. I've had to run clothes through multiple cycles to get them as clean as my previous machine did with one cycle. I use a liquid detergent so what you see in the picture is not undissolved soap.
