good resolution, short recordings, not waterproof
Pros: Easy setup & connection; excellent resolution Cons: They are miserly in giving us only 12 sec; slow to activate - if someone passes by the camera does not catch them. Water got through the slightly open side flap, short-circuiting the camera.

          Beware!
          The company pushes out updates without testing. If the company's update bricks your camera, your on your own. $80 setup is now $160. There are better cameras and companies out there.

                  No 5G Supported
                  Bought Doorbell Camera and Wireless Camera. Unable to finish downloading the app on my fully updated IPhone 8 and their support personnel tried to blame my system. Said to reboot it and wait a few hours. Without changing anything, tried next morning and took about 30 seconds. Proceeded to follow all install instructions and got to the point where you hold the QR code in front of the doorbell camera. It was then, after doing that, I was informed that the Wyze system did NOT support 5G. Called to confirm and they told me that I would need to find another network to connect to. Nowhere on any of the materials did it say 5G was not supported. Disconnected everything, repacked, returned to Home Depot. They took it back with no problems. Said they were returning to distributor. Support was fast to answer the phone, very polite, but not very well informed about technical items. I am a retired Technical Program Manager for a major insurance company who has worked with countless varied computer systems from micro computers in the 70's to mainframe networks tied together in 14 states. NO 5G should be displayed prominently on the boxes of this companies products.

                    Kept shutting off when I would on demand record, even...
                    Kept shutting off when I would on demand record, even when I was standing right near it & the router/modem. Also, when in continuous record mode, you would at first have audio & then it cut out for the rest of the recording. Restarted, etc. No change. Waste of $$.

                      I have 2 more of these cameras, but bought the full kit. This “add on” camera must have a different battery? It drains 3x faster than the others. I’ve even rotated the cameras between the 3 locations to see if it was just due to a higher traffic area; still drains 3x faster

                            Meh...Camera WiFi has very limited range, hence the "Base" which has a stronger signal to relay the cameras (up to 4 ONLY) to the Router. Wyze rational was to use a base to consolidate cameras to a group so as to not overtax the Router/WiFi competitors. This is really old-school technical decisions. Modern Routers/Meshers don't need this pampering. Plus it prevents accessing the cameras by other apps that employ protocols for direct access to cameras. Can't get there from here catch. Decent stuff but I wouldn't recommend it in todays environment.

The max range between the camera and Base Station varies, but in an open, clear field, they can be up to 300 feet apart. If you have multiple walls, doors, and other structures between each device, then that optimal range will be smaller. We would recommend taking a look at these articles for some tips:

                                      Skips recordings at any given time
                                      Very easy to set up, but I noticed it would record me leaving my back yard but not recording when I returned. I need a system that does not fail. I did return it and opted for a doorbell camera from another vendor. Would not recommend.

                                          The speaker does not work well at all. When I have used it no one could understand me. The camera does not connect right away or sometimes not at all. It does not record until the last second. I have adjusted the grid and have the Cam Plus but still it will not record like the Cam V2 or CamV3. My advice, just get the Wyze V3 and use it as an outdoor camera. Do not get this one.

                                                    This my second base station to add more outdoor cams. Very good and mostly reliable. Battery on the cams last me approximately 4 months per charge. This all depends on your settings.
