Goes on easy, dries fast. Warm color.

Directions require a microscope to read. It was good for my job. Application of material and quick dry does not go well together for a layman. Removing mistakes is difficult. Unforgiving.

Prepping the wood is important ( to sand away any imperfections); I used a used a 2 inch sponge brush; lightly applied 2 coats (using 4-zero steel wool in between coats); I was very happy with the restored 60yr old closet shelf! Happy shellac customer!

Bought to seal deck board bleeding sap. It dried fast but did not stop sap bleeding.

This product was easy to apply. The shellac dryed quickly and it didn't have a strong smell.

I needed to refinish some old dining room chairs. In the summer when the humidity was high, our clothes would stick to the wood. Did some research and found this was a common issue with shellac that has broken down. I confirmed it was shellac with a qtip in rubbing alcohol which dissolved the finish. I cleaned the chairs by scrubbing the old finish off with paper towels and denatured alcohol. Then I applied 2 coats of shellac with an old tshirt. The finish is beautiful and the chairs are no longer sticky. My only complaint was I needed maybe 3 tablespoons total of shellac and had to buy this 1 quart can. Most other stains and finishes are sold in little 8oz cans for small projects; I would have liked to have that option.

It sealed my workbench and gave it a nice rich hue.

I bought this overpriced can of shellac to finish a baltic birch record box. Simple job, right? No. Two light finishes with light sanding in between with 220 grit. Today I go check out the work and the finish is not good. There are drip lines down the sides, even after I did a second light brush along the top edges. Maybe you are only supposed to do one surface at a time. I have had success with other finishes, and my favorites are tung oil and danish oil. No problems. This product deserves to be used on anything that does not need to be a furniture quality finish. For the price, I feel like it was a waste of money. Later today, I'll be sanding the piece back down to raw wood and just do a danish oil finish, or maybe I'll leave it raw. I have other Baltic Birch record bins that have never been finished and they look way better than what I'm looking at now with this new box. Avoid at all cost. There are better products out there for the money.

The amber shellac has a great warm tone. It is an instant pickup for worn wooden furniture on top of existing finish. I also use it to perk up worn hardwood floors before applying a topcoat when I don’t want to sand back the worn finish. Shellac is a marvellous substance and this one is the best.

Excellent product.... has a little tint just as the description suggests.... overall a good buy

Very pretty sealant, must be done even however, it's easy to see the paint strokes if it's not.

Put this on some old hickory looking paneling and came out beautiful with a nice shine

Solid wooden doors that were very worn look great again-used 2 coats

the girls did a great job on the table they learned to use sanders to sand the table then they oiled the table then they used the shellac to top off and seal the project home schooling is the bomb we learn more on real life projects and how to use tools that we need in life

This product was just exactly how it was described on the label. The results were great and the finish is wonderfully smooth. The floor in our guest bedroom was a challenge because we decided to rip 1/2-inch plywood into planks, it was a lot of work and I thought I would never get a smooth finish, but this product did the trick. Thank you Home Depot for continuing to provide quality, low-cost and environmentally friendly products like this.
