Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, and CFLs for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This has helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
We have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores since 2010.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers. This commitment extends beyond our stores to the environment and our communities. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our commitment to economic responsibility.

Should I get an inverter generator or a portable generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared for whatever circumstances Mother Nature throws at you. Whether dealing with tornados, hurricanes, blizzards, severe thunderstorms, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy power when the elements take it out. When exploring different generators for sale, keep in mind that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're louder and heavier. Always run your generators outdoors, away from doors and windows, for safety purposes.
Should I make siding repairs now?
Ready your home for spring temperature swings by replacing or repairing broken parts of your home and hardscaping. If water freezes in any crevices, you could have problems. Check brickwork and cinder blocks for cracks, and ensure indoor ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. On the outside of your home, examine metal roofing panels or shingles for rust or damage that could let water in. Gutters should be cleaned to prevent ice dams if you're still prone to ice storms and snow. Lastly, change out chimney caps and vinyl siding if they're in poor condition.
Why should I get a doorbell camera?
Enjoy safety, privacy, and peace of mind with a wireless or wired doorbell camera. No more peeking through an adjacent window or peephole when you can see visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you talk to whoever is on your doorstep via your phone, which is useful for delivery people or to scare off potential porch pirates. Many cameras integrate with your smart home hub or app to give you flexible and easy accessibility. Save video clips for future reference and worry less with more control.
