How do I decorate for Halloween?
Start with general Halloween decorations. Then, narrow down if you want indoor Halloween decor vs outdoor Halloween decor, scary vs kid-friendly options, or traditional fall vs favorite classic Halloween decorations. Halloween inflatables and animatronics offer a quick solution for instant spirit. You can even have both sweet and scary elements with wreaths that combine holiday and fall elements in Halloween wreaths.
Should I get an inverter generator or a portable generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared for any circumstances life throws at you. Whether dealing with hurricanes, tornados, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy power after the elements knock it out. When exploring different generators for sale, keep in mind that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. Always run your generators outside, away from windows and doors, for safety purposes.
Why should I repair my roof before the cold sets in?
Ready your home for colder weather by replacing any faulty or broken parts of your home and hardscaping. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be in for a real headache. On the outside of your home, examine shingles or metal roofs for damage or rust that could let water leak in. Gutters should be clear and functional to prevent ice dams. Check bricks and cinder blocks for cracks, and ensure indoor ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. Lastly, change out vinyl siding and chimney caps if they're in poor condition.
What's the best way to store extra holiday decor?
As you prepare for the holidays, give yourself extra space in the house and stow away the rest. Garage cabinets keep decorations, tools, and more out of the way. Shoe racks and other storage bins take summer belongings out of the equation. Protect fragile items with moving blankets. If you need even more room, a new shed can give you the space you've dreamed of.
How do I check my Home Depot gift card balance?
Gift cards to The Home Depot are an excellent choice for the holidays, birthdays, and housewarming parties. DIYers know they're fun to receive and to give. You can purchase them online at homedepot.com or in our brick-and-mortar stores. If you're a recipient, you can visit your local Home Depot store and ask a cashier to check the balance for you or check your gift card balance online. Redeem our gift cards in-store or use them to shop online with no additional fees.
