Q:Is dark grey the same color as the smoked grey acacia home legend engineered wood floor?
    by|Sep 18, 2023
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question. Smoked Gray Acacia certainly could be described as a dark gray, but color perception will vary based on the viewer. The official color family for Smoked Gray Acacia is simply "gray." Are you attempting to match something to the floor? For any assistance in this matter please contact our technical services department at 877-630-1800.

Such requirements include keeping operating surface temperature to be less than 84°F; decreasing the subfloor temperature before installation and increasing the temperature gradually after installation.

Poor product and poor Customer service
Installed 11 cases on slab smooth floor with FloorMuffler premium underlayment. Floor creaks. No movement of the boards. Tight fitting seams. I installed Pergo outlast + in 2 other rooms with no creaking. I called customer service like was indicated in my earlier post. CS agent said it should stop if not there is nothing they could do. CS said it’s a standard reply to a comment. Why have me call if you can’t do anything . Very poor and aggravating experience.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry the floor's noise is beyond your expectations. ELEGANT APPEARANCE
After investigating many flooring options we decided on this one. It was necessary to put down plywood subfloor to even out the elevation of the rest of the flooring in the house. I stapled it down after putting down underlayment. So far, no squeaks or crackles, it seems very solid. The interlocking fit is very tight so if a staple was not completely flush there is a little interference that makes it difficult to assemble the succeeding panel. In these cases it was necessary use a nail set to drive the staple deeper. It took about 5 days to remove carpeting, baseboards and install subfloor, underlayment and the flooring. Out of 12 boxes I only rejected 2 pieces due to poor color match. It is good advice to use pieces from several boxes to blend the color. After a fair amount of work we are very pleased with how it turned out.

            Read carefully the warranty!!
Although the packaging claims how durable this engineered Acacia hardwood click flooring is, the instructions warn about all sorts of things you should not do like ever use a steam cleaner, rotary head vacuum, fail to use furniture protective pads and fail to clip your dogs' toenails. It appears the instructions are generic so I am hoping our flooring will last the "life-time" its warranty claims since Acacia wood is supposed to be harder than hickory and oak. We received from Home Legend THE warranty after we registered, and there are some areas of concern. We have this flooring at the top of a set of stairs and this small area will get a lot of foot traffic. Should this area suffer a "finish wear through", the warranty does not apply because 10 percent of the "total floor installation project" has to have that "wear through." It warrantys water damage as long as the water has been removed within 24 hours. (How does one prove that?) Lots of "loopholes" built into the warranty. That said, we are pleased with the ease of installation and the look of the product... .

            Great flooring and great price
Closely matches the look of the rest of the houses Brazilian cherry hardwood but with wider planks and more figure. Super easy to install and resistant to anything but the most aggressive scratching. Will be using to floor my next house from scratch build.

              Beautiful and good value
This flooring is stunning. The driftwood color was perfect for our home. We used it on main level as well as lower level. There is a slight “cracking” noise walking on the floating floor once newly installed which goes away after a little time. Excellent for installation over solid straight sub floor. If installing over concrete floor, make sure floor is level with no dips or low spots (maybe use floor leveler). Wood is only 3/8 thick, so it will bend down when walking on flooring over a low spot. Also may have issues when meeting thresholds with different (thicker) flooring. Overall, very good flooring for the price.

We bought this and installed it myself about a month ago. It was installed as a floating floor. I have some experience with remodeling homes and I have a degree in mechanical engineering. It looks great and installed very easily over the underlayment that was recommended by Home Depot. The prep on the concrete floor was thorough. It was flat as a pancake to 1/32" using my 6' flatness level and all holes filled and leveled. It was swept and vacuumed multiple times before and during the installation and all sawing was done outside. As far as we were concerned it was done meticulously. And as hard as it was to wait, the boxes were all opened, flooring stacked and we waited 3 days for it to "acclimate" to the house environment before installing. And there is also plenty of gap around the perimeter of the flooring to allow it to expand. When we were done, we were both very disappointed in how noisy the floor is. It is not creaking, popping, cracking nor does it sound hollow. It sounds crunchy like you are waking on a bunch of dried leaves. Not in one spot or here or there, it is everywhere. I have re-reviewed all the materials and can find no issue that I might have made. It seems to me that it is coming from the joints between the planks. Naturally there is some give to the under-layment, so it must be the crunching when the joints give slightly. So it seems to me to be a quality issue with the flooring. This was our first of several rooms to re-floor. I will think long and hard before using this again or possibly even using a floating floor. Also I bought the matching transitions. They look nice, but there is no kit with a screw down U channel to install as most transitions have. So all you can do is glue them down. I ran short by a few inches so I took one of the left over boards ripped and routed it into a transition T piece myself. I think it matches better than the factory piece. Next time I would do the same and build my own to save a bunch of money.

My first install of engineered hardwood, and it was so much easier than I thought! Absolutely stunning floor! The variation in grain is beautiful. I used an underlayment recommended for engineered hardwood and that worked out well. In all 7 boxes, there were only a few pieces that I didn't like. That's pretty amazing for 7 boxes!
