      Answer This Question

A:  The Expired battery should be properly disposed of. You should call your local Home Depot store and inquire if they have a battery disposal service.

A:  Small sealed lead-acid batteries, like other rechargeable batteries, are required to be recycled by federal law. Your state website likely lists state solutions for recycling them as will your local government (public works department in my town). However, lead-Acid batteries, in particular, are considered dangerous hazardous waste and retailers that sell them are required to accept the used “core”, which is the whole sealed battery unit in this case. So the seller should accept the used battery for recycling. Hope that helps.

A:  It probably would be best to bring in the old one for disposal. Check with your Home Depot concerning their guidelines to dispose for customers. Thank you.

A:  Best thing is match the voltage and current rating from your current battery which is always written on the battery. Most of these 12v batteries I see have similar ratings for current and voltage but it's best to verify.

A:  yes it will work as long as you have room for it, this was used in an alarm system box and was the exact same size but with a higher Ah rating. Installed in 5 minutes, with a 4 minute break included (union job) ; )

A:  There are many applications that use a 12V 5.0 AH Battery. We recommend consulting the instruction manual for the product you are installing the battery in to determine installation/connection method.

A:  The battery has slip on connectors. It comes with slip on adapters to accomdate both popular widths found on batteries, known as F1 and F2 connectors. The wiring is simple. The wiring convention is Red = Positve (+) and Black = Negative (-). It's as simple as that.

A:  Best bet is to unplug the old battery and plug in the new one. Make sure the electrical connector that was on the "+" contact on the old battery is connected to the "+" contact on the new battery. Similarly, that the "-" contact on the old battery is connected to the "-" contact on the new battery. They are nearly always marked as "+" or "Positive" and "-" or "Negative" and are also frequently identified as RED for "+" or "Positive" and BLACK for "-" or "Negative" as in the photo. If the connectors are not marked for you, it is a good idea to use masking tape and a Sharpie or other commercial markers to identify which connector is on "+" and "-" before disconnecting them from the old battery. Also a caution, allowing any metal tool to contact both battery terminals at once will cause a rapid release of energy and may cause fire, explosion or injury! Best of luck!
