A: Yes I believe so.
A: Thank you for your question. You can use an LED bulb in the 769RL, however, the bulb may have a shorter than expected life or reduced light performance as not all bulbs are created equal. The bulb must be marked suitable for enclosed fixtures, as well as be listed by a certification body (i.e. UL, CSA, ETL).
A: Yes
A: Yes, it is.
A: Very good and easy to install, I'm happy.
A: Yes, ours is set up the same way. And this replacement fan works exactly the same as the original model did. And it is quieter too.
A: Yes
A: Yes, most all heat/vent/lights are designed to be wired separate, or you can wire them together and run them on one switch.
A: It is rated at 3.0 sones. It is moderately quiet. If you need something very quiet, you would need a fan that is 1.0 sones or less.
A: NO.
A: I would say it is in the middle of the pack for sound. If you close the door, then you can't hear it so it is better than most of the cheaper models.
A: not really. It is 3.0 scones. If you want a quiet exhaust, you have to go with something with scone rating of 1.0 or less.
A: It is reasonably quiet. It replaced an older model fan for us so it is not as quiet as a newer model fan would be but it fits in the hole that the old fan fits in. I hope that this answers the question for you. If quiet is your main issue buy a newer version fan. If it needs to fit in a specific space this works and is reasonably quiet.
A: Call Nutone as this depends on the size of the fan. The larger the fan the more air is moved and so a longer vent pipe can be used. I live in a condo and I am on the top floor but my vent goes up to the roof and is attached to an out side vent plate about 10 feet from my bathroom ceiling.. When you call Nutone have your unit's model number available and they will answer you very quickly.
A: I think it will work OK with that length
A: That's a question involving air movement, volume and the environmental conditions where the exhaust vent pipe will be located. The simplest thing I can say is to avoid sharp bends, dips and any obstructions in the installation of the hose which can cause condensation of warm moist air into water and either freeze or leak into the structure. Make sure to use a high quality exhaust hose to avoid rips and tears during installation.
A: As long as you are using rigid duct, you can go as far as 24 feet. However, for each 90 degree turn, deduct 3 feet. If you have questions about this, please call our Technical Support Department at 888-336-3948.
A: I would check the plastic connector that connects to the 4" exhaust vent pipe to make sure the "door" swings outward when the fan is turned on. Otherwise, there may be a blockage in the vent pipe which leads to the outside. I once had a to remove a sizeable wasp's nest from one!
A: No it is not supposed to blow in
A: The fan itself might be wired wrong take back to store
A: The fan only moves a small amount of air, so it would be difficult to tell that it was blowing air the wrong direction. As far as wiring goes the only way it could blow the wrong direction is if the fan motor was wired incorrectly at the factory. You could try this to test if it’s working correctly. Use painters tape and cover over the vents on 3 sides, then hold a thin piece of the tissue or toilet paper over the rest of the remaining vent, if it’s working correctly it should suck the paper to the vent, incorrectly it will blow the paper away from the vent. If it does neither you may have a blockage in your vent pipe.

A: This is newer and a 1/4 inch bigger so you have to be really careful installing
A: You might need to look at the bracket that holds the current unit. You might need to adjust or change that. You might want to spend about 10-15 minutes to take measurements of the current unit. HXLXD and compare to the unit online in store.
A: The older 663L/669L have a 9" x 9" x 5-1/2" housing. The newer 769RL has the same dimensions. Please note that everything, including the old housing, will have to be removed from the ceiling. You may want to call our Customer Service Department at 888-336-3948 for additional information or questions.
A: Thought I'd reply just in case this helps someone. All tape or weatherstripping is going to do is increase the amount of air that comes in... Will help the noise though. Doubt this is a long-term solution, because of changes in temperature and humidity. If you're going to attack the damper itself, you're going to need the bias the weight of it, so there's a force on the outer-bottom of the damper. I think magnets are a reasonable solution, ensuring a larger mass is on the outer-bottom than is on the inner-bottom. Considering all of this, the damper does not have a seal.. it is definitely not air-tight and under any conditions, will allow incoming air unless the fan is on. What I did, was install a legitimate 4" backdraft preventer w/ a seal in the ductwork. This solves all the problems.
A: I'm not sure if you can. I had a handyman install mine, not sure if he made an adjustment - but I do know that I've never heard it make any noise that could be associated with wind it's in a bathroom ceiling with attic space above.
A: You could try a small piece of weather stripping on the damper. Give our Technical Support Department a call at 888-336-6151.
A: No adjustment a nap trapper
A: If you are not sure how to connect the fan, I would suggest calling a licensed electrician to make sure it is connected correctly. Otherwise it might be a hazard.
A: The wires marked for the light and the fan would be connected to the black, white to white, and green to ground. When ever you turn the switch on both the light and the fan will come on together.
A: Connect positive lines black wire and white wire is the return. The ground is green (ground). I would suggest a professional if you are not comfortable with the wires.
A: The wires are usually black, white ,copper wire hook up black to black white to white and the ground wire to the bare copper wire.
A: If your house is wired correctly (test to verify) the black is hot, the white is your neutral, and the ground is ground. Hope that helps.
A: If you have a single switch control (when you turn on the fan the light also comes on) you will see a connector plate with two screws. The upper screw goes to the black lead which will marry up to the black lead on the unit. This is the hot wire. The white lead will attach to the unit's white lead which is the return. The ground lead attaches to the unit's ground wire.

A: If you click on "specifications" its tells you everything. Housing length: 9", housing width: 9", product height: 7.625", product length: 10.75", product width: 12"
A: The steel box holding the works is roughly 9 1/8 x 9 1/8 inches. The plastic grille is a rectangle 12 x 10 3/4". The fan housing is 5 3/4" high, so if placed level at the bottom with a 1/2" drywall ceiling, you should be able to place it in a 2 x 6" joist ceiling. Note that if used above a bath or shower, the specifications for the electrical supply require that a GFCI supply the unit, to minimize any shock hazard - a rather conservative specification (in accordance with the National Electrical Code), since the grille and light cover are all non-conductive plastic.
A: I think you mean the exhaust vent to attach the connector duct, it is standard 4 inches. FYI The most important part is to make sure is tightly installed or you will get more noise than you want to have.
A: The housing measures 9" x 9" x 5-3/4" . The grille measures 10-1/4" x 10-1/2"
A: Specifications state: 11 3/4" X 12" and This is the size I received.
A: 7.625 assuming you are trying to measure how much room you need in the attic/crawlspace.
A: The dimensions of this exhaust fan are as follows: 9" x 9" x 5-3/4"D.
A: Installed, it's depth is approximately 2" from the ceiling.
A: 6 inches in depth.
A: The overall dimensions are 7.625 x 10.75 x 12 inches.
