A:  This is newer and a 1/4 inch bigger so you have to be really careful installing

by|Jan 3, 2019

A:  You might need to look at the bracket that holds the current unit. You might need to adjust or change that. You might want to spend about 10-15 minutes to take measurements of the current unit. HXLXD and compare to the unit online in store.

    by|Jan 5, 2019

A:  The older 663L/669L have a 9" x 9" x 5-1/2" housing. The newer 769RL has the same dimensions. Please note that everything, including the old housing, will have to be removed from the ceiling. Answer This Question

A:  Thought I'd reply just in case this helps someone. All tape or weatherstripping is going to do is increase the amount of air that comes in... Will help the noise though. Doubt this is a long-term solution, because of changes in temperature and humidity. If you're going to attack the damper itself, you're going to need the bias the weight of it, so there's a force on the outer-bottom of the damper. I think magnets are a reasonable solution, ensuring a larger mass is on the outer-bottom than is on the inner-bottom. Considering all of this, the damper does not have a seal.. it is definitely not air-tight and under any conditions, will allow incoming air unless the fan is on. What I did, was install a legitimate 4" backdraft preventer w/ a seal in the ductwork. This solves all the problems.

A:  I'm not sure if you can. I had a handyman install mine, not sure if he made an adjustment - but I do know that I've never heard it make any noise that could be associated with wind it's in a bathroom ceiling with attic space above.

        by|Dec 14, 2018

A:  You could try a small piece of weather stripping on the damper. Give our Technical Support Department a call at 888-336-6151.

Q:How do you connect the wires when the wires in my home are 1 black 1 white and 1 ground

            Answer This Question

A:  If you are not sure how to connect the fan, I would suggest calling a licensed electrician to make sure it is connected correctly. Otherwise it might be a hazard.

            by|Dec 4, 2018

A:  The wires marked for the light and the fan would be connected to the black, white to white, and green to ground. When ever you turn the switch on both the light and the fan will come on together.

A:  Connect positive lines black wire and white wire is the return. The ground is green (ground). I would suggest a professional if you are not comfortable with the wires.

                by|Dec 1, 2018

A:  The wires are usually black, white ,copper wire hook up black to black white to white and the ground wire to the bare copper wire.

                by|Dec 1, 2018

A:  If your house is wired correctly (test to verify) the black is hot, the white is your neutral, and the ground is ground. Hope that helps.

                by|Dec 5, 2018

A:  If you have a single switch control (when you turn on the fan the light also comes on) you will see a connector plate with two screws. The upper screw goes to the black lead which will marry up to the black lead on the unit. This is the hot wire. The white lead will attach to the unit's white lead which is the return. The ground lead attaches to the unit's ground wire.

A:  If you click on "specifications" its tells you everything. Housing length: 9", housing width: 9", product height: 7.625", product length: 10.75", product width: 12"

A:  The steel box holding the works is roughly 9 1/8 x 9 1/8 inches. The plastic grille is a rectangle 12 x 10 3/4". The fan housing is 5 3/4" high, so if placed level at the bottom with a 1/2" drywall ceiling, you should be able to place it in a 2 x 6" joist ceiling. Note that if used above a bath or shower, the specifications for the electrical supply require that a GFCI supply the unit, to minimize any shock hazard - a rather conservative specification (in accordance with the National Electrical Code), since the grille and light cover are all non-conductive plastic.

A:  I think you mean the exhaust vent to attach the connector duct, it is standard 4 inches. FYI The most important part is to make sure is tightly installed or you will get more noise than you want to have.
