Q:can i replace the motor inside with a quieter one?

Answer This Question
A: No. The fan assemblies are riveted or spot welded to the can. Besides, to get a quieter fan, you have to decrease the CFM ("Cubic Feet per Minute" of air movement), defeating the purpose of the fan.

A: You cannot replace the motor for the 769RL with a quieter one. If you wish to have a quieter exhaust fan, you will have to replace the entire unit, housing and all.

Q:How do I replace light bulb?

Answer This Question
A: You basically pull it out the way you inserted it. It is hard to do, and it is really easy to break the bulb by hitting it against the side of the housing. Hopefully they will change something when they come out with a newer version.

A: This unit has a snap-in type lens cover. Be sure the light is OFF. To remove the lens so you can change the bulb, follow these instructions . . . the plastic lens as two tabs on the side. You will need a flat head screw driver or a butter knife to gently push it in so is can drop down. Use some caution here, as you do NOT want to drop the cover. This will expose the bulb/socket. Change the bulb. Gently snap the cover back into place. If you have questions, dial 888-336-3948 and our Customer Service Department can assist you.

A: John, you can use a vacuum cleaner hose and vacuum it off, then maybe wipe it down with a damp cloth.

A: To clean this unit, remove the light lens from the grille assembly. Once you remove the light lens, remove the light bulb. There will be a nut in the reflector assembly that, when removed, will free the grille and reflector assembly. You can now clean the dust and dirt from the grille and also clean inside the housing of the unit. If you need further assistance, please contact Technical Support at 1-888-336-6151.

Q:How does the grill come off to replace the light bulb?

Answer This Question
A: The opaque lens cover pops out, giving access to the bulb
by|May 5, 2023
A: The only thing you will have to remove is the lens cover. The lens is a snap in cover. It has two plastic tabs. Use a flat head screw driver or a butter knife to do this step. Simply slip the screw driver/knife in between the grille and lens. Very gently push in a little and it will pop out of the tab. Use caution here . . . you don't want to drop the lens! This will expose the bulb so it can be replaced. IF you have further questions, just give us a call at 888-336-3948. Thank you.

Answer This Question
A: You may be able to use a fluorescent bulb, but you will have to find the right base. This unit is spec'd for a 100 W A-19 incandescent. You must find a bulb that will be the same size or slightly smaller, but also the correct base. If you have further questions, dial 888-336-6151 and out Technical Support Department will be able to assist. Thank you.

A: There are slimmer LED bulbs available. I would take the light housing to the store and test fit it.

Q:Attempting to change the bulb the bulb is obstructed by a threaded rod which comes down from the ceiling inside the fixture.

Answer This Question
A: That rod can be adjusted upwards if it is too long. It has a forcenut on the end to prevent it from loosening up. That should allow you more room for the bulb or you can purchase a slimmer LED bulb.

A: There is a stud/nut assembly that holds in the light reflector, but that shouldn't prevent you from changing the light bulb. Please contact our Technical Support Department at 888-336-6151 for additional assistance.
