A:  No, this is a VERY loud unit. It works fine, but is much to loud to be run any longer than it has to.

A:  This exhaust fan is for general residential use. It should be used while the bathroom is in use and then turned off. If you need a fan that can handle continuous operation, or at least two days, contact our Technical Support Department at 888-336-6151 and ask them about our heavy duty rated units.

A:  I wanted to do the same thing. The cover was bad, but the fan an light still worked well. They were just old. The light bulb holder can be replaced but the fan is riveted to the box. I wound up just replacing the cover, which was an easy swap. While I had it apart, I cleaned it out well, removing years of dust buildup. The box attaches with an outside mounting bracket, so if your fan motor has stopped, you will have to replace the entire box, which means climbing into the attic. The only salvation in that case is that the mounting hole would be the same, which would make the installation much easier.

A:  Well, I was able to install it in drop ceiling. It was quite easy.

A:  Go online and look for replacement covers for this fan number. I found quite a few, but they were the old style, which is a yellow-ivory color. I wanted white, so I wound up buying new fans which only have the white color. I did not find a site where Nutone themselves sells parts.
