Questions and Answers for Henry 287 Solar-Flex White Acrylic Elastomeric Reflective Roof Coating 4.75 gal. (16-Piece)

A:  Herbie, Henry 287 Solar-Flex, as well as most acrylic white roof coatings are not waterproof. Acrylic roof coatings are designed to protect the roof from the harsh and damaging UV rays of the sun and to cool the interior of the structure. Acrylic coatings will give some protection from the weather but will not stand up to water that sits on the roof for longer than 48 hours.

A:  Tony, Henry 287 Solar-Flex is not designed to be used over shingles of any kind. Some people have coated their shingles with a white acrylic coating such as Henry 287 but it is not an application that we would be able to warranty since it is not designed for shingles.

A:  Dave8122, we do not recommend using Henry 287 for a coating on an RV roof. RV roofs experience many more stresses that normal roofs do not such as wind up-lift, wind peel and excessive movement to name just a few. The only coating we recommend for RVs is Henry 887 TropiCool 100% Silicone because of the super strong chemical bond that it forms on to the roof surface.

A:  Ramsey, for mineral surface or granule surface roll roofing you can apply Henry 287 Solar-Flex, 587 Dura-Brite or 687 Enviro-White acrylic coatings. You can also apply Henry 887 TropiCool 100% Silicone. It is best to wait a year before coating roll roofing in order to let it cure and weather if your roof is new.

A:  Les1, we don't recommend using any acrylic white coating over shingles. The curing process could cause shingles to curl at the edges or crack.

A:  Frank, we do not recommend that you walk on a roof coated with Henry 287 Solar-Flex except for cleaning it periodically or to service HVAC units. It is not formulated to handle regular foot traffic.

A:  Brian, we do not advise using Henry 287 Solar-Flex Acrylic white Roof coating as a suitable coating for the upper deck of an aluminum houseboat. Henry 287 is also not formulated to handle foot traffic except for what is needed for regular roof maintenance.

A:  Tina, Henry 287 would not be recommended for coating the ceiling. Henry 287 is a reflective coating and only works to cool a surface if it is in direct contact with the sun. In addition, Henry 287 is an exterior use product and not suited for interior use.
