Questions and Answers for Henry 287 Solar-Flex White Acrylic Elastomeric Reflective Roof Coating 4.75 gal. (16-Piece)

A:  Dave, Henry 287 will NOT stop condensation from forming on the underside of a metal roof. Condensation forms when warm moist air comes in contact with a cold object like cold metal. The way to prevent condensation is to insulate the cold metal from coming in contact with the warm moist air.

A:  Roof, the coverage rate of Henry 287 Solar-Flex is 100 square feet per gallon. Two coats of Henry 287 are required if this is the first time coating the roof. The coverage rate may vary a bit depending on how rough or how dry the surface is.

A:  Bligh, Henry 287 Solar-Flex is not recommended for use over a rubber membrane roof such as EPDM. Most acrylic coatings will not adhere to a rubber membrane. You can use Henry 887 TropiCool 100% Silicone on a rubber roof as long as the roof is aged and has been cleaned.

A:  Frank, you can coat over an aluminum roof coating as long a the aluminum has had a year or so to weather and gas off the solvents in the product. Since this is the first coating of an acrylic coating you will need to apply two coats of Henry 287.

A:  Young, by asphalt do you mean a flood coat of a tar like product or do you mean asphalt roll roofing? The part that looks like sand, is it the granules that have come loose? A:  Duffy, your roof should be lightly pressure washed or with a hose that has a strong spray nozzle prior to the application of any coating. In order to get a good bond the roof must be clean and dry.

A:  Mario, usually you can apply the second coat after the first coat feels dry to the touch. The drying times are affected by humidity and temperature. Low humidity and high temperature will significantly speed up the curing process.

A:  James, you can use Henry 287 Solar-Flex Acrylic Reflective Roof coating over an aged metal roof. Before coating the roof use a pressure washer or high pressure nozzle and water hose with a non-filming detergent such as TSP or TSP substitute. Once the roof is clean and dry apply Henry 287. For a first time application you will need to apply two coats.

A:  Deei, Henry 287 Solar-Flex can be applied to a mobile home roof as long as it is not shingled or covered with a membrane like TPO or EPDM.
