A:  The MIR-ITFS is an infrared remote control whereas the Pico is a radio frequency remote control. The MIR-ITFS is used with Lutron's Maestro IR series of dimmers, which are now obsolete. The Pico remote is used with Lutron's RF series of devices, such as Caseta.

A:  This model has a 30' operating range.

A:  The answer is Yes. I used it to control a light in my son's room from my room without any problem. The distance in my situation is about 40 to 50 feet. In addition, you could also use the app on your phone to control the light, too. I love it!

A:  You cannot hard wire this Pico. The battery has lasted me a couple of years of normal use.

A:  While it could work for the PD-6ANS, the raise/lower buttons will have no functionality. For pairing with the PD-6ANS, Lutron would suggest using the PJ2-2B-GWH-L01 which will look virtually identical to the master control.

A:  Yes, Pico remotes are compatible with any product in the Castea family including the ELV dimmer.
