A:  Yes, you can. I did screw it into metal stud. You need to drill a pilot hole though. I used a #6 self- drilling screw. I cannot guarantee it will hold your speaker. I hung pictures, pretty lightweight. Basically this thread is not designed to hold in thin metal. I wouldn't bank on it but it also depends on your speaker weight.

        by|Nov 23, 2020

A:  You should use a sheet metal screw .

        by|Nov 24, 2021

A:  You might want to drill a small hole in the duct for screw to start into the duct. Not sure how much weight this could support, likely much, much less than a hundred pounds.

A:  Theoretically yes. If load is distributed evenly. In real life most probably one or two screws will bear most of the load.

A:  Thank you for your interest in Hillman products. No, adding additional screws does not guarantee an equivalent increase in safe working load.

A:  If the four screws are positioned in such a way that each supports 30 of 120 lbs. the four 100 lb capacity screws should work fine.

A:  Thank you for your interest in Hillman products. We do not recommend using this product outside as it will corrode over time.

              by|Jun 23, 2020

A:  I have not used them outside, but they look like a reasonable choice for outdoors. I would give it a try and check once in awhile to see how they hold up. They are my favorite anchor indoors for pictures.

A:  I use these on my fences to hold tools, hose hangers, etc. They are coated with better protection than the average screw. Yes, I would use them outside as I have for over 16 years.

A:  FYI, despite what the company says I use this in horse hair plaster walls and it works perfectly. It holds strong and doens't make a mess like most hanger. I have also used it in that heavy mortar plaster/lathe used in the 60's and it works great.
