I hung pictures, pretty lightweight. Basically this thread is not designed to hold in thin metal. I wouldn't bank on it but it also depends on your speaker weight.

A:  You might want to drill a small hole in the duct for screw to start into the duct. Not sure how much weight this could support, likely much, much less than a hundred pounds.

A:  FYI, despite what the company says I use this in horse hair plaster walls and it works perfectly. It holds strong and doens't make a mess like most hanger. I have also used it in that heavy mortar plaster/lathe used in the 60's and it works great.
