A:  Extension cords should never be used to power a permanently mounted appliance per the National Electrical Code

A:  Yes, it can be plugged into and extension cord but be sure that it is a heavy duty extension cord as the unit needs to stay on.

A:  Yes Scalewatcher will work in areas where there is iron but we highly suggest that you also invest in an iron filter if possible.

A:  Well it's not a filter so it won't remove iron. It's designed to make the minerals break free and not bond to pipes and fixtures and hair, etc.

A:  You can install the 3 Star in the well house with confidence. The 100 foot run will not minimize the effectiveness of the Scalewatcher and will eliminate existing scaling within your water infrastructure from the point of installation.

A:  Not sure what you are asking,so I will guess. 1. You’d install this in the house so, the well location isn’t relevant. 2. This breaks up the minerals temporarily, time-based, not distance-based. I don’t think you have anything to worry about. Check out the instructions.

A:  100' from the home is not a problem for the 3 Star. If you have 3 or more bathrooms and well water, we would suggest the 4 Star for your home. Distance is not a problem with Scalewatcher products.

A:  As I remember the instructions, they say if it is a larger diameter pipe, there needs to be a longer section to be wired, in fact maybe twice as long. Now, they give you plenty of wire, so that should not be any issue. I went 50% longer on the wiring wrap simply because I had the wire and the space, and the instructions say that this can only benefit by better results, so why not? Just a little bit more time is all it takes.

A:  Although it is made for 1 1/2" pipe system, it can work on a 2" pipe for residential application depending on the flow rate. Please contact the factory directly for more information.

A:  It doesn't remove rust. Its for the build up in waterline It removes the white stuff scale you see from a head of faucet and shower heads. It's meant to remove and stop this build up.

A:  For a detailed explanation, it is best to contact the factory but basically, cathode action gradually changes red rust into brown rust,and then into dark brown rust (Fe3O4). This dark brown rust is called magnetite, and it makes it possible to extend the life span of pipe material by forming a very thin film on the inside of the pipe wall which prevents rust growth. Red rust accelerates scale deposition, but the transformation into black rust by Scalewatcher means that the red rust is removed together with the scale in the water flow.

A:  With 4 bathrooms and your water flow, we would highly suggest the 4 Star for the whole house. Hope this helps you.

A:  For a home with 4 bathrooms, you will want to go with the 4 Star. To make it easy to determine which unit is best, we look at number of bathrooms,usage, water source, and area hardness. This would be for the inside of the home. For the irrigation system, you would want to put a 5 Star on that. The 5 Star is manufactured for outside installation and is weather proof.
