Answer This Question
A: You need the QO type breaker. Not the Homeline type. Both are made by Square D, but mount on different types of bus bars in the panels.

A: Hi,
QOC is the cover for a QO Load Center, and only accepts OQ breakers like the QO120 - single pole or QO220 - double pole.

A: If I understand correctly, you have a QO panel? If so, Homeline breakers don't fit in a QO panel, you need a QO breaker.
by|Jun 24, 2023
A: You cannot use a homeline breaker in this panel, You will need a QO120

A: Did you recently add a kitchen appliance? Otherwise It sounds like the microwave is drawing too many amps or there is something else on the same circuit and the combination of the two or more items running at the same is over 20 amps. Such as a toaster, coffee maker, juicer…
If you are capable of checking amps for that feed at the panel then you can start unplugging until you get down to 16 to 17 amps and the breaker will hold if its in good condition.

A: Have an Electrician test it.
by|May 1, 2023
A: Test it with a volt meter, or take the wire off of a breaker that you know is working properly and place that wire on the breaker you think is bad. If that circuit still works after this, it is not the breaker.

A: Usually the simplest way is if it will not reset the other way you need a tester .

A: I would look up the installation instructions online and reference that for correct breaker sizing. Otherwise, hire an electrician who knows what they’re doing to do the job for you. Incorrectly sized breakers can lead to constant tripping and could cause a fire.

A: So just to clarify you’re voltage, it’s sounds like you’re meaning 1ph 120v 240v from power company to your electrical service and to clarify breaker type would be “2pole”’not tandem, tandem refers to 1 breaker with 2 circuits used in a singe breaker or 1pole position with in you’re electrical panel busses. AC units have a name plate and that is where you will find the proper breaker amperage ex. Max ckt 25a on a AC unit that’s 240v would mean you would install a 2pole 25a breaker. Hopefully this helps !
