I suggest opening the box at home depot. Mine had a dent in the side of it, I should have took it back to HD, but instead I pushed on it to try and smooth it out. Most people don't notice, but I always see it and that's on HD not the tub. The tub itself is awesome. It's wide and lengthy. It has a nice sure footing when standing in the tub. It felt secure when it was installed.

Had a chip in it out of the box, we were able to repair and hide. However it chipped again when the soap dish fell off. Are they easily chipped? Or was this just a fluke?

We bought this tub for a 2nd home in another state. The receipt says white, the box said white. We had it installed and tiled surround, when we arrived to see the progress on the house, the tub looks yellow. We have not even used the tub, but it looks old. I am so disappointed, I wanted a bright white new tub for this bathroom. Just at lost what to do. So much money involved to look so horrible.

The plumber replacing the tub recommended that I get this one because it is porcelain. It looks fine installed. Hope that it holds up well.

The tub is beautiful, a great porcelain alternative. I say alternative, because the porcelain layer is very thin and dings very easily. Be VERY careful! I had two spots that I needed to fix before I was done with the bathroom remodel. I would buy it again, because it’s a great deal $$.

We have two of these. I think they're great tubs for the price. But I give them only three stars because the apparently high probability of chipped finishes or other damage. For our first tub, purchased in October 2016, we had to buy two because the first one -- opened and inspected by our contractor in the HD store when he went to pick it up -- had chips and damage in several places that would be visible after installation. He had to wait at the store while workers retrieved another tub, which he also also opened and inspected. Our second one, purchased this week, he did not inspect in the store. When he opened it in our front yard, we saw that it had a chip on the front left horizontal surface at the base of the flange. But we were certain that it would be hidden by the cement wall board, tile and caulk. In fact, the wall board and tile completely cover the chip. So we did not have to take the tub back. I don't know if the finish problems are in Bootz' manufacturing process and could be caught at the factory before shipment, or if they happen during shipment to Home Depot or in handling at Home Depot, but the problem is real. We've bought 3 tubs to get 2 usable ones, and one is usable but not flawless.

Not actually sure how many stars to assign for this tub, but I want to quickly add that our local Home Depot in Denver CO have been EXCELLENT is resolving a minor issue. Background: before we purchased the 5' Maui tub at Home Depot, I read the 1-star and 2-star reviews here about minor chips to the porcelain finish. I thought "well that's probably a minority of cases, and the tub I get will probably be fine." At HD, while still in the store, we peeked into the cardboard box and from that limited sight angle it appeared fine. However, when we opened the box fully at home, we were disappointed to see a pretty bad chip. See the attached photo. We got on the phone and the local HD rep quickly arranged to have a replacement tub (same Maui, same price) delivered to our house WITHIN 2 HOURS, at no charge, and they picked up the slightly defective tub. I couldn't believe it - all within 2 hours. Props to the customer service at Home Depot - they get 5 stars.

This is a nice, deep tub for the price. I spend a little extra buying this particular tub over your other cheaper and less deep tub for all my remodels because I feel it is better for the family who will be using it!

It took me FOUR tries and the tub is still dented!!
I ordered a tub on a Saturday, my contractor picked it up Monday. He opened the box on Monday afternoon to install it and there was a chunk of paint missing in the tub. I called and said this looks like someone returned it and I got it. Tuesday, the contractor brought the missing paint tub back and picked up another. Paint looked good at first glance - as they are carrying the tub in, they did a double take as the entire side was warped. Clearly damaged in production and a bad patch job applied. Can't put a warped tub against straight tile, so I called the store again. I brought it back in my truck. Even though they "eyeballed" four in stock, there was actually none when I got there so they told me they would give me the next level of tub at the same cost. I asked if it was the same size and specifications and they said yes. So I bring it back and nope, it's too shallow and i would have to spend money to rearrange my pipes. At this point, I am on tve verge of tears because its holding up my bathroom. I drove to another home depot where they apologize and give me a discount for my troubles. I look it over in the terrible home depot lighting and all the paint is there and it looks straight. I get it home and the contractor opens it completely in front of me. There in front of my house, I scream that I am done and don't care anymore. Put the stupid thing in. There were two small dents on the left side. Basically, if you buy this tub expect it to be a dented messed up piece of garbage. Ive come to the conclusion that the company does not do enough to protect the outside of the tub. One side of the box clearly needs more padding than they give it. It is a shame that so many have defects simply because they dont have enough styrofoam in the box. I seriously hope i never have to buy another tub ever. If i do, i will avoid this company at all costs. Not worth the traumatizing experience.

          Contractor review - pictures included
My wife and I run a small property investment, rental, and renovation company in the Western Pennsylvania area. I am the licensed contractor of the outfit and head up our small renovation crew. I wouldn't say that we specialize in high-end installations, but we do our best to offer a lot of value for money in our renovations. The pictures included in this review are of a bathroom renovation in our area using a Maui tub purchased at my local Home Depot. I did not pick out the tub myself: the people at HD did. There were no problems with it -- it was still in the box. I've personally handled the bulk of this renovation. I feel I'm at least minimally qualified to handle the work of putting one of these in and I can confidently pass judgment on this tub. It's a great steel tub. You can get exceptional results with this tub. It's about as difficult to install as other steel tubs are. You will rarely make an investment better than this one in home improvement. I will most definitely by buying and installing this tub again.

          Do NOT buy this tub!
I typically read reviews prior to purchasing, but fell in love with this tub on the spot and made an impulse buy. Once home I read review after review after review about the tub chipping off porcelain and thought that maybe ours wouldn't be damaged. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. We had chipped porcelain inside the tub basin so soon enough those spots would rust. Then reading that people had to open 2 or 3 before they found one that was in good shape just made me decide to get a different tub all together. I'm not sure if these tubs brand new come with a protective film, but ours did not and the box was slightly damaged too. My thoughts now are someone else previously opened it, saw the damage, and returned it. Hopefully the one we just returned doesn't end up back on the shelf too! Do yourself a favor and go with a better quality tub!

            Love our tub
The first tub we purchased was damaged, so we exchanged it and checked before we left for chips. We love this tub and can't wait to use it.

Love the deep inset of this tub and the looks. No flaws.
There were NO flaws on this tub. It was NOT bent or chipped. We purchased the tub for a diy and we brought it straight home very carefully. This tub was the deepest I could find for a soaker. It had an easy transitional design with a good incline for the back rest. The floor of the tub has a slide proof texture added and after the first bath it was not bothersome at all. We actually like it. Now, for some tips and one complaint. Con: The porcelain overlay (steel) is easy to scratch and chip. Tips: Do not put a chair or a ladder inside this tub when you are tiling! You will damage the tub. 1. Place a blanket inside of the tub when tiling to keep your tile from dropping directly onto the porcelain. 2. Place a blanket into the tub with it being folded several times before placing a rubber footed step ladder or chair inside the tub and do not push it around. Pick it up and move it gently from end to end to avoid scratches and chips. 3. Place a small hand towel around the drain when installing to avoid scratching and chipping the porcelain. (we have a small pin size chip from drain install that will rust if not sealed) You can purchase a repair kit for $4 @ home depot. 4. I recommend placing insulation (wall) all around the tub on the inside. This helps your bath water stay hot longer and it will not have a hallow sound when your filling it. It will sound quiet and sturdy. I hope this review helps with your next install. I am pleased with this tub. Once it was installed and the tub still looks beautiful I think it was all worth it. I am very pleased.

Watch Out for Missing Enamel Pinholes!
After installing this Bootz tub, we filled it with water and let it soak for a while. After rinsing it out, we noticed small black holes on the drain end of the tub appearing. We could hardly believe it when we realized there were about forty pinholes of missing enamel exposing metal. There was missing enamel around the perimeter of the apron also. Look VERY carefully before going to all the trouble of installing.

Muai Tub is a great deal...just be careful to protect it.
You cannot beat this for the price. Two warnings: 1. Open the box and make sure the tub is not chipped and that the drain is oriented in your correct direction. 2. The tub will chip if you are not careful. Take all precautions during install and tiling. This is my second of these tubs. The first has worked perfectly. The second is waiting to be installed in another bathroom. I did this project without any professional help. The install, the tiling, the plumbing, etc... You can too, just be careful with the tub.

                Great tub!
Purchased this tub from our local Home Depot store. Thought about opening the box before purchasing, but in the end we just took our chances (we only live about 5 miles away). Upon opening the box at home, we did find a very small (1/8" to 1/4") spot of chipped enamel on the very left edge of the tub, but will be hidden by the ceramic tile surround anyway - so not problem for us. Otherwise in perfect condition, not a scratch or blemish anywhere on the visible tub surface. Very well packaged. The boxed tub fit perfectly into our Subaru Outback (w/rear seats folded down), no need for tie downs or bungee cords. A very deep, attractive, and lightweight tub that looks fabulous installed. As a previous reviewer recommended, we intend to use "Great Stuff" spray-foam installation in the hollow areas underneath the tub before installing our cement board and ceramic tile surround. All of the negative reviews are due to shipping damage (enamel chips), which in my opinion are not true reviews of the product itself. Just open the box before buying to make sure - and keep in mind that 1/4" to 1/2" of the edges will most likely be masked by your specific tub surround. I think it would be virtually impossible to package/ship a product of this size/material without a single enamel blemish on the edges... a relative once worked a temporary/seasonal job at the local USPS sorting facility, and I heard all kinds of stories about how the loading dock guys just toss things around (and if it's marked "fragile", they will toss it that much harder). NO FAULT of either the manufacturer or Home Depot, just the way it is.

                DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BUY THIS TUB. Professionally installed by a contractor and the porcelain on the tub started coming off the steel in three places....completely covered and protected during install as instructed. Had to go through 4 tubs to exchange to get this one... Remains to be seen how Bootz and Home Depot handles this......Will update soon!!!

Clean, easy and real upgrade over fiberglass
I'm not a plumber or the son of a plumber! I couldn't believe installing a porcelain tub could be so easy. The tub was light enough for my teenage son and I to carry upstairs. The tub, itself, was very "true" so it fit just right in the opening and required little to no leveling. Once caulked and tiled...it's as solid as rock. Super nice upgrade to our house!

Inspect the tile flange on the tub before installing. The corners were so twisted and bent when Bootz fabricated the tub because everything was painted so this didn’t happen during shipment. Poorly made. I don’t do this for a living so didn’t realize how this was a problem until installed. I had problems fitting it up had to take it in and out multiple times and it already framed around it. Home Depot was great when I went in to complain and worked with me to satisfy my frustration. Bootz also doesn’t have any direct lines to to complain about their product

Order through home depot online for bathroom remodel and tub did not arrive by expected delivery date. Had to call customer service e after tub did not move from Oakland for more than 7 days only to find out something happened to the tub in transit and it was lost. Had to cancel my order and buy through another home improvement store that had the tub in stock so my contractor could finish the job on time.
