Apparently NOT for overhead use!
I've used Great Stuff foam before around pipes going through walls with success but when I tried to use it to fill gaps between ceiling panels in my shed it dripped terribly. Not mentioned anywhere in their literature. Now I get to spend a couple of hours cutting it off the walls, floor, ladders, tools...

This foam works on many things. This time I'm using it to fill a brick hole in my garage before painting. I have to do it in steps because I never know how much expansion will happen, a little goes a long way.

Great product!!! Wear gloves!!! Product not usable after initial application so be sure you use it for everything as you need the first time before it expands and dries.

    1.25 inches that’s all
I purchased this product in the hopes of actually getting 3 inches of expansion, I got barely an inch and a quarter. Needless to say I’ll be returning the 3 unused cans. None of the cans were expired and the temp inside the bathroom was 70 degrees. Attached photo is from 3 hours later.

Hello JimBob15812 - Thank you for sharing your concerns with us regarding Great Stuff™ Insulating Foam Sealant products. We apologize for any inconvenience you may have encountered. I don't know the specifics for your application but please note in order to get the 3-inches, you need to use a 1-inch bead. I did look at the photo you attached to the review, but it doesn't show the original bead size. If you have additional questions about your experience with the Great Stuff™ Insulating Foam Sealant products, please call us at 866-583-2583. DOW

      Worst product
This stuff is super dangerous when it get stuck in you hand and it’s super hard to remove it . I wish they have a big note in the can to use gloves only when using .

20 years later looks like new
20 years later looks like new! It was used as a wall crack filler in my NYC loft. The 2nd picture shows how it deteorates when left unpainted exposed to air 20 years later.

This product expands and tacks up quickly. It has filled gaps and cracks to seal out air, insects and rodents.

          Buy a can, use once
PSA: when your old can of spray foam clogs, just buy a new can. Do not attempt to drill out the valve. Subscribe to my newsletter for more home improvement advice! The can does say, "Great Stuff can seal itself shut. One time use should be expected." And in my defense, I did unclog it with the drill. I just don't recommend it.

            Works as expected.
It does what it is supposed to and fills in cracks well. Got it for a good price at Home Depot. Very good at insulating and have found it to be the best solution to fill in holes made by woodpeckers in my siding. There are 2 big downsides. First, after the first use it will dry and clog the straw. There really is no good way to clean it out or prevent this from happening, so it is basically one-time use. Second, if any get on your hands or clothes, it is impossible to get off.

"Great Stuff"? How About "Utter Garbage"
Tried to fill gaps around window casements. Nozzle onto which dispenser is screwed isn't fixed; the whole assembly spins, and leaks with every trigger pull. Foam dispensation at first use is impossible to control, yielding vast over-application, waste, and drips everywhere, which can't be removed without leaving residue. The dispenser can't be cleaned after use, so any remaining product must be tossed - nearly 50% was wasted. This must be the worst product of its sort I have ever used.

Hello - Thank you for sharing your concerns with us regarding Great Stuff™ Insulating Foam Sealant products. We apologize for any inconvenience you may have encountered. It is beneficial to practice using the Great Stuff™ Insulating Foam products to learn how the product sprays. To clean up drip and uncured foam, use acetone. The dispensers are not intended to be cleaned, but acetone will dissolve uncured foam. The problem is that the cans seal themselves at the valve. Reusability is a problem with moisture cured single component polyurethane foams. DOW
                Worked great
Some people say it made a mess. Read the directions before you start if your not sure. Make sure you screw on the dispensing straw tight. Wear gloves to be safe. It is very sticky. It will expand a lot after you put it in the crack or cavity. It dries fairly fast. Trim any excess that bulges out. It will bulge lol. But it works just fine.
