The fit isn’t great on my older sliding door frame but it does work well for my dog and was very easy to install. I live in a rental, so finding a doggy door that would work with the sliding door without having to drill holes or alter the existing door frame was important to me. The doggy door moves around a bit when I have the sliding door open and I have to re-secure it each time; it mostly keeps in place when the sliding door is closed unless my dog bumps into it. The seal of the doggy door flap seems to be secure and weatherproof.

So, I never leave reviews, but I was so stressed out with buying my first home and getting two puppies and trying to potty train while working a full time job and then I got this door. Its super easy to put in and out, and locks in place, and I cant be sure, but I think it comes wkth free potty training.. within two weeks my dogs haven’t gone inside! This was probably my favorite purchase ever.

This door leaves gaps when installed according to directions.

This was our quick fix in the new house as we didn’t have time to install a new doggie door. This is a great alternative

The Step-up was too high for my dog, especially since the deck is lower than the door threshold. (Don't apply the weather stripping before you decide to make adjustments. My bad.)

Should have gotten this door a long long long time ago. It was super easy to install, no tools needed. Trained my dog for about 2 days, he now uses it nonstop. Highly recommend!!!

Super easy to instal. This has been a great add to our new house. Would definitely recommend for sliding glass doors.

I got this at my local Home Depot. I have a 25 lb French Bulldog so I ordered the 10.5”x15” size door flap. It took about 15 minutes to install because I had to adjust the door height which is not included in the instructions btw! It has an 8 inch rise out of the box but there’s a panel above the bottom part of the frame that you can slide up. First you need to unscrew the plastic door frame. It’s held by six screws. Then the sliding panel you need to unscrew from the side (there are 2 holes on each side of frame). You might want to do this with the door standing up so the screws can just fall to the floor. Once you slide the panel up to adjust the height of the doggy door, you secure it by replacing the door frame. The extra 4 screws for the panel you can throw away. And Voila! The picture on the box shows the adjusted height and not the default 8” rise. You can see other posts where they incorporated little steps for their little furry friends but it isn’t necessary just make the adjustment! They really need to include this optional step in the instructions. One thing to note, I had to remove my existing locking hardware and I just wedged a pvc pipe as a door jam. The weather sealing could also be thicker and foamier. But other than that it’s wonderful!

Very easy to install, and, if you haven't put the lock pin in yet and your wife changes her mind as to where she wants it, easy to move. Yes, that happened LOL.

Very functional and pretty well made. Fit was very good and sealed pretty good. I used extra weather stripping to help with that was issue.

BEST PURCHASE EVER!!!! I wish I had know about this door earlier. I moved from CT to FL, the sliding glass door capital of the world. Why a place that has hurricanes love sliding glass doors boggles the mind. My apartment has four. My dog Sophie loves to sunbath and it is especially hard when I am at work. Sophie loves this door because she is able to go outside whenever she wants. I love this door because I do not have to get up every time she wants to go outside and I don’t have to worry about accidents if I am running a little late. I used to worry about lizards getting in the house because I had to leave the door cracked so Sophie could push the door open she when she wanted to come back on the house. Now I tell her, use your door LOL. Although the kit comes with a strip to stop bugs from getting in the house, my Dad bought foam tubes to block both sides of the doors. He also cut additional pieces of wood to prevent the doors from opening even though there is a lock in the kit. Dad always goes the extra mile. This door is a lifesaver and I would definitely recommend.

Very easy to install and quality is very good. If you buy this size for a small puppy that will get larger.....it will require a modification to allow the puppy access thru the flap because of rise distance from the floor to the flap. As shown in the picture I just used some landscape blocks from the garden dept to achieve this.

Needed to make slight modifications in the spring-loaded height adjustment - the unit ultimately fit in the space, was originally slightly too tall to angle into position over the frame lip. With 1/4-inch more clearance, it literally would have taken 2 minutes at most to put in place once out of the box. Will need more insulation/weather-stripping than comes with it to really seal properly. Will likely have to modify locking/security. Instructions on box were microscopic. Works great - dog learned it in one day, was fully acclimated within a week, gives freedom to us and the dog.

This has been a terrific purchase! It was so easy to install. After 2 minutes of it being in, my dog began going in and out without any hesitation. There no draft at all and I like that I can slide in the little plastic door for when I am not home. Thanks a lot! It is so great!

I purchased this today at my local home depot. The install was very easy. It took me a little bit longer because I needed to drill a couple of holes, and travel back to home depot to get more weather stripping(I suggest you get this at the same time you purchase the door). I placed the door on the side with the stationary door so I would not have to move my lock. To the person who took a picture of his door with a 3 inch gap... I hope you figured it out after you posted your review, but the panel that you took out from the bottom to allow you to slide the dog door down should be placed in that gap. Also I agree with the reviewer about measuring your door wide open and then subtracting 15 inches so you can determine if it leaves you room to get out of your door. My family is pretty slim so the room remaining is enough for us to turn to the side and get out to our patio. The only issues I have are, 1. Not enough weather stripping. 2. The price difference between the aluminum door and the white colored aluminum door. Other than that I am very happy with my purchase, and I believe my pets will really enjoy not having to hold their business while the rest of the family is gone.

The door feels flimsy, has no place for the lock on the main door to latch on to, and cannot be reconfigured to accommodate dogs that are low to the ground. However, I cut a piece of PVC pipe to wedge between the main door and the wall to prevent the main door from opening. This has the added benefit of adding a little more sturdiness to the doggy door. I unscrewed the metal plates at the bottom of the door and rearranged them so the plastic flap reaches the ground. Unfortunately this arrangement was not considered by the manufacturer and leaves a 3 inch gap at the top of the plastic that is open to the elements. Overall this is a poorly designed doggy door for the price.

there was a bit of broken off plastic on the swinging plastic door, the adhesive for the outside strip was weak and fell hanging so my dog ate it.i wish the door didn't flap so much with the wind. these aren't strong gusts by any means. he loves the door though.

Doesn't fit my patio door snuggly. Always hot air thru.

No drilling needed. Recommend extra insulation tape.

So glad I found this, I was about to make a side light doggy door and this saved me a ton of time and effort. It installed quickly and my only beef is the weather stripping is inadequate so I used some backer rod and other sponge tape to fill the gaps . I would buy again. Bear in mind I just installed yesterday so I can't give you a long term performance report.

It was too tall for my sliding door, so I returned it, and had to purchase the more expensive shorter one.
