My house was built in 1960, I bought it in 1996. The bathroom’s built in vanity was painted baby-blue and I’ve wanted to strip it, hoping the underlying wood was attractive enough to just stain/varnish and keep a natural wood look (ever since I bought the house in 1960). I kept putting it off because of all the work required.
This paint stripper is a gel with virtually no odor/VOC (water cleanup), much different than the liquid stripper I’ve used in the past. The gel doesn’t run or drip. It applies easily and starts to work instantly bubbling the first layer of paint (picture 1). I scraped the first application after about 6 hours, my eagerness getting the best of me (picture 2). Realizing there were a few more layers of old paint, I applied the stripper again and let it set the 24 hours per instructions. It worked very well, easily stripping 3 or 4 layers of old paint, all various shades of blue.
However, beneath these layers of blue paint, the underlying wood was coated by pink (picture 3), what I presume to be stain (PINK!!!—definitely a 1960s color). I tried another application of the stripper, but it just didn’t work on the stain. So, I tried some of a liquid high VOC stripper, but it too couldn’t remove the pink. Ultimately it took an electric sander with 80 grit paper to remove the pink and get down to the wood—which thankfully had a very attractive grain and look. I can finally check this off my ‘want to do’ list, where it’s been for almost 20 years.
Perfect for indoor products as it has a low odor. Easily strips through many coats of paint and varnish. Stays put and doesn't drip on vertical surfaces such as doors and stair spindles. The longer it stays on the more layers it removes.
Removes easily and cleans up with water.
I wouldn't use anything else.

Great product, just needs to be more for the price
This stuff works great. Took paint & varnish off an old table. I let it sit for 24 hrs. before peeling it off. It definitely requires a thick coating. Which means a quart doesn't go very far. All in all, I will be using this again.
Side note: this stuff is caustic to plastic & vinyl. I used natural bristle paint brush, the yellow rubber dish washing gloves & fabric drop cloth.

It has a strong smell more than expected based on the description. It needs a thick layer to actually work. I tried both methods waiting 1-2hrs and the overnight, which this last one was horrible. It worked better when is wet. It dry out even that it was cover with plastic and is not possible to use water, it is gets super sticky and is impossible to get off the surface.
Using the 2hr wait time method does work great and is easier to work with. I applied twice and sand it because at that point I was tired of dealing with it. I was hoping that it was going to work better and make the removal easier.

Had to do a second coat to remove 3 layers but it was no surprise because the paint was old and very tough.

Totally worthless
First, it doesn’t remove up to 15 layers of paint, I applied this remover to my front door and it was a mess, but it smelled so bad and didn’t remove anything it just made some bubbles and I had to Scrape it for two days and my door looks like out of the horror movies

This stripper was not what I expected. After 2 different applications, it still did not remove the paint I was applying it to… I was disappointed to say the least.

Probably will work well on getting paint off of something. Does not work on stain. Just makes it darker. I will try it on paint later though.

I have only ever used this product and Smart Strip. Both work about the same. I’ve used them to strip 100 yr old doors, both require two applications (and lots of elbow grease) for success. Takes 1 gal to complete a door. But it’s non-toxic, low odor. Would use again.

It smelled really bad and not what I expected - took bout 2 days to really work and took off only 2 layers of paint which was okay. Maybe I didn't put it on correctly because the smell was very bad I just wanted to get it done.

It works but unbearable fumes
They call this low odor? Seriously?? The fumes were so bad that I was outside in open air and I could hardly take it. I would rather sniff Bin and that is saying something. My eyes were burning for like a day. Also, you can rinse this thing off for a month and the fumes coming roaring back. This must be the most toxic stuff I have ever worked with. If you like using toxic waste to strip paint go for it but next time I will use my toothbrush before trying this sludge. Good luck.
