Customer Reviews for VELUX 10 in. Acrylic Dome Sun Tunnel Skylight with Rigid Tube and Pitched High Density Flashing

The 10" sun tunnel has made a big difference in the brightness of my office, but I was surprised to find out that the sun actually needs to beam directly on the sun tunnel to really contribute considerable light. Although it is an improvement in my relatively dark, small office, I was expecting more light to come in.

I purchased a Velux Skylight for kitchen . Yet to be installed. I purchase 4 of the 22 inches flexible sun tunnels as I was super excited to have 3 in the hall way and 1 in the addition on the second floor. To my sad surprise, 2 installers came out and they both could not install even one in the hallway. One of them said he will try to install a 14 rigid maybe in the hallway. TRY. I hope I am not stuck with 3 Sun tunnels unopened . They costed me an arm and a leg. Unfortunately the Truss does not have place for installation. I so much wish someone can find a way to install Atleast ONE in the hallway for sure.

It worked great! A larger than expected, but no problem so far.

Do you sell a square cover to modify a round tube light just to update it and give it a fresh look? If not I’m thinking a getting a picture frame to install over diffuser….also, ours are soooooooo bright, we like to cut down on the glare…

Totally transformed our main bathroom. Provides just the right amount of light to supplement a north facing window without it being overpowering.

Provides great light in dining room. It seems like the light is on. Planning to install another one in kitchen. Easy to install.

Add great light to dark places. I was concerned I would not like the fluorescent color of lighting but it has worked nicely in a dark hallway and in our bathroom that has no windows.

We installed a Sun Tunnel 15 years ago when no one knew what they were! We were removing a window from a bathroom and I wanted natural light! It’s still perfect, but I see the night light, and different diffuser patterns and am extremely interested in those. I would install all over again if I were doing project now. Saw them a few months ago not realizing that had been in obscurity for so long!!! Thanks Venus!

Great skylight! We finally have natural soft bright light in our bathroom. They both look very nice and neat inside and outside (roof). Easy to install. Strongly recommended. I hope the price can be lower.

Added a lot of natural light into the space. Easy to install and since we installed before a new roof, no leaks.

Great at providing extra and clear light in my bedroom BUT after the last 2 little rain we had in the Bay Area, both time the skylight condensed so much water that the first time we thought we had a leak because the amount of water was easily about a gallon. We checked with a specialist and everything was in order. The second short rain, the same thing happened. We had to put a bucket to collect the water dripping from the skylight. I read the warranty, and condensation is not covered. From this point I think this is a horrible product. I’ve contacted Velux and I’m still waiting for answers. I bought it in June 2021 and installed it right away. Now it is October and it’s not working as it should. I have 2 more skylights installed in previous years. Not one condensates water.

This product produces a harsh antiseptic bright white light that would be acceptable in an operating room or chemical laboratory, but not for a residence. All it would take is a tinted soft white diffuser to fit into the bottom cover assembly. This could be sold separately for those who want a warm light look.

We have install 2 sun tunnels, and waiting to install the 3rd. They are the rigid pitched 14" unit. I can understand if ours are hurricane rated. the 2 installed have been through 3 hurricanes with no problem. Are they hurricane rated?? The TMZ roof mount is our next approach which are flat. I wish I would have known this before I bought the here in florida HELP

It was the BEST decision for a very dark room. It’s full of light now. I would highly recommend.

I installed my Sun Tunnel in October of 2017 and everything was great. Just last night during some heavy rain, we noticed there was water leaking from around the Sun Tunnel. I went on the roof this morning to find several cracks in the thermoplastic flashing that mounts to the roof. I called Velux and they are covering this under warranty, but I was told that they would be replacing it with an aluminum flashing. It seems that Home Depot sells a lower priced unit, that is only sold through Home Depot, that has the thermoplastic flashing instead of the aluminum flashing. I was told that most of the cracking occurs within the first two years, and this is a known issue on this particular model. It's a great product, just be aware if you purchase the unit with the plastic flashing that you will be replacing it in a few years. Not an easy task, as the flashing is underneath the roofing.

Relatively easy to install, even in a 15 year old roof. Great light output, even on an overcast day.

I marked excellent because the result after installation it is just fantastic. Extremely happy with this result. Lot, but lots of natural light now. What a difference. Now, the installation was a nightmare. My roof is flat flat. Instructions are good for probably an expert on installations of sky lights. Don’t do it yourself if you’re not very good at this. Our person expert in roofing and construction had some trouble doing the wooden frame needed. I think, this sky light need to come with the wooden frame for the same price. That was complicated for us.
