    Not as advertised
    This dryer stops drying when bedding is still very damp. THIS DRYER IS NOT VENTLESS! there is an exhaust vent in the back that is pumping hot air out, air I thought these dryers were supposed to be recirculating efficiently. The lint filter has sharp edges that catches on clothing and sheets.

      Worse Appliance I have ever Owned
      I have had this dryer for 18 months. I bought it for the heat pump technology as it is very efficient and uses hardly any electricity. Unfortunately there are numerous problems with the design and the durability. You have to clean two lint filters, not a big deal, but it takes extra time. If you don't the drying time is extended significantly. Even if you clean the filters every time, you can expect 90 minutes to 2hrs per cycle, which for our family of four is way too long. Another issue is that the clothes are not fully dry when its done. You have to start the dryer again for another 20 minutes or let them air dry when you take them out. Despite the two filters, lint gets through into the back of the machine and over time builds up over the condenser. There is no way to access this to clean it out so it means your dryer is just getting more inefficient over time. And lastly, our dryer now has a very loud high pitch noise from some internal parts rubbing when it spins, making it unbearable to be in the same room when its on. I'm sure its about to die anytime now and its only been 18 months. With a 1 year warranty it is now basically worthless. I am 100% supportive of heat pump technology (we have a HP water heater and it works great), efficiency and sustainability but I cannot recommend this product to anyone as it is almost unusable and I am sure most people will end up putting their in the landfill within 3 years.

                Drain pump broke 3 months after warranty expired
                Wanted to save energy. Seems like we don't after all because the drain pump broke after 1 year and 3 months. E2F9 error. No warranty. $400 dollar repair. I expect value for $1500, not stuff that breaks. Also, the lint filters seem somewhat leaky. The heat exchange element tends to get blocked with lint, and you get poor drying. The element is behind a non-removable grill, and it is hard to reach. I had to pry the dust out with a stick and shopvac it through the grill. Took me a good 2 hours.

                  Heat pump dryer works great
                  [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This heat pump dryer works great, and is super energy efficient. It really appeals to me that it it does not have a vent to blow the nice warm house air outside. It condenses the water out of the clothes and there is a hose that can drain into the same place as the washer.

                    I love this washer/dryer. Its vent-less so you need to get that it will take longer to dry. I am fine with that. I am obsessive about constantly cleaning both filters. Even during a cycle at times. I usually vacuum out both vents daily! BUT. Last night drying and the glass door exploded off! Has this happened to anyone? 2 years old. I am so shocked. Any feedback?

                      Good luck getting service on Whirlpool in Hawaii
                      This is a followup on an earlier review. I received this dryer on Sept 29, and it failed with a loud bang and a burning/smoky smell on November 18. Whirlpool's service provider in Hawaii postponed visits on me 2 times. I want to return this for refund, HD

                        Fabulous dryer

The machine does the job very well while saving energy and avoiding the steam plume venting outside of the house.

                          I like the heat pump dryer in a big size!
                          This dryer performs very well. Not as fast as our gas, but i like I don't have to vent it and it works well, even with big loads. I am rating value 3 stars because there is a huge markup that negates the savings if you are just looking to replace an existing dryer.

                            Exceeded my expectations
                            [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this dryer as I recently moved from a house to a condo and wanted a full size dryer. The condo requires ventless dryers. I refused to purchase a compact dryer. They are too small and take a very long time to dry. I was told by several people, including the appliance salesperson, this dryer was the same. It would take hours to dry clothes. So against all recommendations, I purchased this dryer and a paired Whirlpool washer with a stacking kit. I had my contractor enlarge the closet so that the units would fit. The previous ones were compact and not very good. After a couple of months of use, the Whirlpool heat pump dryer operates nearly identical to a vented dryer. Dry times for clothing is about the same. Towels are maybe 15 to 20 minutes longer. It has never been the “hours to dry a load of clothes” I was warned against. This is my first purchase of Whirlpool dryer and washer. I’ve previously owned Samsung. They have exceeded my expectations in all areas except one. The dryer lint screen is flimsy and one of the flaps that pop up when you remove the screen broke. I’ve contacted Whirlpool and they are repairing. Other than that I’m very satisfied with the product.

                              Love this dryer. There is no noticeable raise in humidity levels. It works great and it's quiet. It does takes twice as long to dry an average load of laundry. However, we have no venting options, so the ventless feature is great.

                                Do not buy!
                                I've had this dryer for just over 2 years. Recently the dryer has consistently stopped spinning mid-cycle. I need to unplug it for 30 minutes in order to get it running again. I looked this problem up and found out it is a common issue with it. Many other folks are experiencing the same issue in the same short period of time. I absolutely did not expect a $1500 dryer to experience such problems.

                                  Neat idea, poorly executed.
                                  We've had this unit for ~4 years - it's been a headache for most of that time. The drying cycle is significantly longer that a standard dryer. We were willing to give this a shot for the energy savings, but didn't realize the issues we would have with it. The condensation pump seized due to the infiltration of lint, which also has almost completely plugged the coils. There is really no way to clear the coils, so this is a throw away unit, just a matter of time. We've been told by the many service people we've had work on the unit that they've never seen a unit like this and aren't familiar with how to fix it. Several flat out said we should just replace it instead of fixing it. We had several warranty repairs and several out of warranty repairs. Lint filters don't filter enough lint out of the air stream, but are also a pain to clean. Time to make a change - don't get caught with this unit.

However, it doesn't work. Clothes take a long time to get to the point where they are still damp and we have to air dry. Now it keeps turning off after we turned it on. I hope they are willing to fix it for free or let us trade in.

                                          It's worked really well for me.
                                          I've had this dryer for over two years now and am very pleased with it. While it does take a little longer to dry than my old gas dryer (especially for thick things like towels), overall the performance has been great. I particularly like the fact that it doesn't suck conditioned air out of my house like a conventional dryer does.

                                            Waste of money
                                            Bought 2 years ago, BRAND NEW! The washer is just ok, but this dryer's a piece of c**p! The clothes come out damp no matter how long it's set for, half the time the controls don't come on right away, so I have to push harder, they also keep resetting themselves, the lint compartment ( not the screen itself, which is cleaned off after EVERY cycle ) collects so much lint, I have to get a flashlight, and a long brush to constantly clean it out! I would recommend this duo to my most hated enemy!

                                              Worst appliance I have ever owned. A dryer has one job: to dry. This one does not. It can take up to five hours to dry a load of towels. I've loved my other Whirlpools but this, I'd avoid at all costs.

                                                  I challenge folks to find a positive review after more than a year of ownership. The double lint filters are inadequate, esp. for pet hair, causing the condenser coil to become blocked with lint. Unserviceable design requires one to completely disassemble the dryer to clean that coil, not something one should have to do on an annual basis. Whirlpool went deaf after my warranty expired. Whirlpool adapted a standard vented cabinet for their heat pump offering, and that approach has failed, quite predictably in retrospect....

                                                    The Worst Dryer I've Ever Owned
                                                    Avoid this dryer at all costs. Came brand new with the house purchase. Stopped drying after less than two months, no heat at all. Technician initially diagnosed the problem at the circuit board. Changed the controls and thermostat out, still not working. Now diagnosed as a motor or blower wheel issue. Short of the frame itself, the inside will have been completely replaced, and I still don't know if that will fix the issue. Waiting for the technician to order the parts. Currently two weeks without a working dryer, and I'm having to spend a lot of money at the nearest laundromat (10 miles away) to dry my clothes. Hands down the worst dryer I've ever owned. I wouldn't wish this stress on anybody.

                                                      HORRIBLE dryer
                                                      I was sent this dryer for a home warranty replacement. I'm going on two years now and it now makes a loud squealing noise when being used. Not only that, the "no vent" system where it vents into the room caused a window to crack from the heat it produces. My wife hates this dryer if only because it will run, and then stop right after she walks out. This was a horrible choice in dryers for a replacement. Buyer beware. Steer far, far away from this piece of junk.
