Decent
Powerful, the bolt that holds parts together to the auger bit snapped in the first 5-10 minutes of use due to the mediocre design of how the auger attaches to the drive shaft.

    Junk
Paid extra to get the lighter and supposedly better one. first time I tried pull starting it. I realized it was already broken out of the box. never even got to start it. Took it back to the store for a refund and bought another brand. Collar on the bottom of the Motor was a really lightweight metal.

This was exactly what I needed. I’m in my mid seventies and it wasn’t too much for me to handle. I liked it that it had a torque spring or shock spring to absorb any sudden twisting if hitting a rock or root. Price was certainly affordable. Called the company for clarification on gas and oil mixture and found that the person I spoke to was very knowledgeable and professional. 25/1 for the break in and 50/1 after that.

Auger ran very well. Did have a bolt fail on the torsion spring, but was easy to replace and wasn’t a problem afterward.

Other reviews are correct, there's mixed information about the fuel/oil ratio. The manual also says to fill the gear box with oil, but I couldn't find the gear box plug they mention. I later realized it's because they changed it to grease with a grease zerk. It did start easily and ran great, but one of the pins connecting the shaft broke on my first hole when I hit a 1/2" tree root. It was easy to replace the pin though.

The head with the motor worked perfectly however the 8 inch bit didn't look very strong. That being said it did the job. However if you hit big rocks you'll have to dig them out by hand with a bar.

This augers pin sheered the third hole I tried to drill. I had to replace the bolt and now it’s wobbly. Would not recommend this one

pays for itself after making 4 holes in the ground
I read all of the reviews, here and elsewhere. I was a bit hesitant. The box, and instruction manual say to use 3 different fuel to oil ratios. Instructions are not very good. that aside, this tool is awesome. Last year I dug 20 post holes for a greenhouse I was building, if I had this, it would have taken 10 minutes and not 10 hours. Last weekend was my first time digging post holes with it. I did 5 holes in about 5 minutes in clay soil with redwood roots. I live in California, so I but premixed fuel off the shelf for all of my small engines. Poured the fuel in, primed it, two pulls later it fired up. Let it idle a bit, and got to digging. After I shut it down that first time, started right up on the first pull each time. I went with 40:1 fuel mixture. Primarily because that is what I use for my saw, blower, and weed eater. So I but a case of that pre mixed fuel about once a year. 6" auger bit went right through that dang clay and the random thin redwood roots with out problem. It did bind up, but only after I let off the throttle. I suggest going up and down a bit at a time. I am relocating soon and plan on having to build a lot of fencing for gardens and livestock, so I bought this for that new ranch, not my current home. Glad I did. This thing will make short work of the fence post holes I will be needing to dig. The plastic casing around the motor is a little flimsy. Also, getting the gear oil in the gear box is a bit of a pain. I took the nipple fitting off and used an old school oil gun, problem solved.

        Piece of Junk
This thing is a piece of garbage. Manual directions as well as the website and directions on the auger itself all say something different. Had to fiddle around with it for 2 days before i was able to get it started. Can barely go through small roots. Can't and will not go through clay. I hand dug joles faster than my buddy could when he was using the auger. Overall just a waste of money. Pure junk

Good but not all that powerful
Works great. I did purchase the 12 inch bit and it's almost not powerful enough to dig well. Definitely would go with a more powerful machine next time

            Almost a two person machine
Works great. Started digging holes right out of the box. Instructions suck. Had to flip coin on oil ratio, so chose what my chainsaw is. If you dig a 3 ft hole in one shot, it will take 2 men to pull the machine and the dirt out of the hole.

We were very pleased with this post hoke digger power tool. Having had some of our privacy fence blown over by wind in the late winter, we were unable to get any fence contractors to replace it until August or September. We have an above ground pool and could not open the pool with part of the fence down. With this post hole digger we were able to do it ourselves with the help of our 2 grown sons. My younger son is going to use it to put a fence around his back yard. We highly recommend this item. The price was perfect and it came directly to our house.
