What college dorm essentials should I get?
We've got your dorm essentials. Use storage containers or moving boxes to transport your belongings, and be ready with disinfecting wipes and cleaning supplies. Bring a tub of spackling to fill nail holes and Command adhesive hooks to hang wall art and string lights. Make the room your own with wall decals and area rugs. Power strips and extension cords let you place lamps, microwaves, and mini fridges where you need them. If you didn't get a new bookbag yet, we've got those, too. Be prepared to head to college with useful products from your local Home Depot.
What home repairs should I make before summer storms hit?
Be confident your home is equipped for relentless summer heat by replacing or repairing faulty parts of your hardscaping. On your house's exterior, inspect shingles or metal roofing for damage that may let water leak inside. Keep gutters functional and clear to prevent excess water from backing up into your home when storms arrive. Chimney caps and vinyl siding should be changed out if they're badly weathered. Also, check cinder blocks and brick for cracks, and ensure indoor ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. If moisture gets inside the crevices, you might be dealing with damage.
Do you have moving boxes?
Pick up an assortment of moving boxes to make your move easier. We've got the sizes you need, including specialty ones like TV and wardrobe boxes. Cushion your items with bubble cushion and moving blankets to ensure your belongings make it safely. Look into our rental moving trucks, too, and take care of your DIY move needs in one place.
Should I get an inverter generator or a portable generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared year-round for any circumstances Mother Nature throws at you. Whether dealing with hurricanes, tornados, blizzards, severe thunderstorms, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity after the elements take it out. When browsing generators for sale, don't forget that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're louder and heavier. Always run your generators outdoors, away from doors and windows, for safety purposes.
Do you have doorbell cameras?
Enjoy safety, peace of mind, and privacy with a wired or wireless doorbell camera. Stop peeking through a nearby window when you can watch animal or human visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you speak to whoever is at the door via your phone, a useful interaction to scare off potential porch pirates or talk to delivery people. Several cameras integrate with your smart home app or hub to give you flexible accessibility. Choose to save video clips for future reference as it suits you.
When is the Home Depot Kids Workshop in August?
Drop by our Kids Workshop from 9–12 noon on August 1st. Introduce your children to the joys of building with this cool pint-sized rocket game. Building this small wooden spaceship is a great way to encourage creativity, listening abilities, and fine motor skills. Team up with your kids to make this quick craft while supplies last. The best part is imagining the rocket launch, so leave some time to blast off!
