Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting CFLs, lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, and plastic plant pots for recycling.
Our stores sent approximately 5.3M pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63.5K trees. It kept over 16K trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saved over 50M gallons of water, and conserved 7.8M kilowatt hours of electricity.
We have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores since 2010.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to the environment, as well as our local communities. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our eco actions.

Do you have big outdoor Halloween decorations?
We offer several types of gigantic outdoor Halloween decorations, many of which are animatronics. Make your front yard the scariest on the block with giant Halloween decor options, including skeletons, reapers, and witches. Skelly, the giant 12-foot skeleton, and Dean the Deathologist, a dapper bartender, are two current favorites. Halloween inflatables, especially the big ones, make a huge visual impact.
Should I get an inverter generator or a portable generator?
We've got the options you need when searching for a generator for sale. Inverter generators are cleaner and quieter than traditional portable generators. They adjust to whatever power load is requested. This means they'll make less noise in times of lesser demand. When considering different generators for sale, remember that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're louder and heavier. Always run your generators outdoors, away from doors and windows, for safety purposes.
Why should I repair my roof before the cold sets in?
Make sure your home is ready for colder weather by repairing or replacing broken parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be looking at trouble. On the outside of your home, examine metal roof panels or shingles for rust or damage that could let water leak in. Clean gutters to prevent ice dams. Check brickwork and cinder block for cracks. Indoors, verify ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. Lastly, swap out chimney caps and vinyl siding if damaged.
Are garage cabinets or sheds better for storage?
As you prepare for the holidays, stow what you don't need to enjoy extra space. Garage cabinets keep tools, decorations, and more out of the way. Shoe racks and other storage containers take summer belongings out of the equation. Shield fragile items with moving blankets. If you need even more room, a new shed can give you plenty of it.
How do I check the balance of my Home Depot gift card?
Home Depot gift cards are an excellent present for the holidays, birthdays, and housewarming parties. DIYers know they're fun to give and to receive. They can be purchased online at homedepot.com or in our stores. If you receive a gift card, you can visit the Ft Walton Home Depot and ask a cashier to check the balance for you or check your gift card balance online. Use our gift cards to shop online or redeem them in-store, all with no additional fees.
