Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, and CFLs for recycling.
Our stores sent approximately 5.3M pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63.5K trees. It kept over 16K trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saved over 50M gallons of water, and conserved 7.8M kilowatt hours of electricity.
We have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores since 2010.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers. This commitment extends beyond our stores to our communities and the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our commitment to economic responsibility.

Do you offer Halloween skeletons or witches that move?
Yes, we carry several options of Halloween decor that make noise and/or move. Our Halloween animatronics bring frightening characters to life. Bring the scare level of a haunted house to your own home. This includes current favorites like Dean the Deathologist and Skelly, the 12-foot skeleton. For extra drama, use a fog machine or two to veil the animatronics until they start to move.
Is it good to have a generator at home?
Having a generator means you're prepared year-round for whatever circumstances Mother Nature throws at you. Whether dealing with blizzards, thunderstorms, hurricanes, tornados, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity when the elements take it out. When exploring different generators for sale, keep in mind that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. For safety purposes, always run your generators outdoors, away from doors and windows.
What home repairs should I make before winter?
Make sure your home is ready for winter weather by replacing any faulty parts of your home and hardscaping. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be in for a real headache. On the outside of your home, examine shingles or metal roofing panels for damage or rust that could let water in. Clean gutters to prevent ice dams. Check brick and cinder blocks for cracks, and verify indoor ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. Lastly, change out chimney caps and vinyl siding if in poor condition.
What's the best way to store extra holiday decor?
As you prepare for the holidays, give yourself extra space in the house and stow away the rest. Garage cabinets keep decorations, tools, and more out of the way. Shoe racks and other storage bins take summer belongings out of the equation. Protect fragile items with moving blankets. If you need even more room, a new shed can give you plenty.
How do I check my Home Depot gift card balance?
Home Depot gift cards are an excellent choice for housewarming parties, birthdays, and the holidays. DIYers know these gift cards are fun to receive and to give. Buy gift cards at our brick-and-mortar stores or online at homedepot.com. If you're a recipient, you can check your gift card balance online or visit the North Irving Home Depot and ask a cashier to check the balance for you. Use our gift cards to shop online or redeem them in-store. There are no additional fees to worry about.
