Q:Can i cut a 6" baseboard on the fence? What is the capasity for crown molding as well
by|Jan 11, 2017

Answer This Question

A:  I would lay the 6" baseboard flat. It's probably too tall to cut vertically on the fence, but I don't have the saw in front of me to measure. I have done a bit of crown moulding on this saw. Because it is a compound mitre, I would also cut the crown moulding flat. While turning it upside down is a good trick, it's not easy to get every piece perfectly oriented the SAME WAY against the fence, resulting in slightly imperfect outside corners.

by|May 4, 2023

A:  Not if you hold the piece upright as the blade is only 10" so you are limited to cutting about 4". But if you put your baseboard flat on the base of the saw and change your bevel scale to the angle you want, then you can cut a baseboard that is at least10 inches. You may need a means of support for your baseboard as you won't be able to use the workpiece clamp. Be sure to keep your fingers far from the blade as holding a long piece by yourself is tricky. Good luck.

    by|May 4, 2023

A:  If you lay the base board flat and adjust the bevel you'll be able to cut 6" material with no issue. If you try to stand the material up against the fence you will have to turn it upside down to finish the cut.

    by|May 4, 2023

A:  You have to cut 6" baseboard laying flat. You could cut 6" crown.

    Answer This Question

A:  IDK. I'm still waiting for my warranty. I submitted it online and Ridgid claimed they could not verify the receipt from HD. So I had to print a copy of the online receipt along with their letter and mail it to them. Still waiting--not happy about this.

    by|May 4, 2023

A:  When i got mine, you had to go through a long online process to register your product within 90 days AND send the upc code from the box by mail, otherwise you dont get the Lifetime Service Agreement. There was basically a separate process to get the lifetime service, if you dont do it exactly correct and within 90 days you only get the 3 year warranty.

A:  Think of it when you buy a car there's the manufacturing warranty and then there's the dealers warranty, same thing applies have there is the manufacture warranty for the product and then there's Home Depot's warranty.

    Answer This Question

A:  The difference is between actual weight and shipping weight that includes the box.

    by|May 4, 2023

A:  I can't really say for sure why there is a discrepancy in the weights. My guess is that the manufacturer's weight includes the packaging. About 12 pounds sounds about right for the box and packing material.

Q:Some store had this saw at $175.00 why can't your store honor this price isn't that the idea behind big box stores?

    Answer This Question

A:  I have never seen this saw for that price. I think you maybe confusing saws.

    by|May 4, 2023

A:  Not usually, price matching is typically based off the same brand and same product/model for price matching. Some brands are "cheaper" due to the quality and or the warranty associated with the product. Ridges is only sold at Home Depot and comes with a lifetime warranty. Therefore if it is not a Ridgid tool it would be hard to price match with an "inferior" product. Also if it is another Home Depot store they might not be carrying the product any longer in that particular store and therefore it has been marked down to a special buy price so they can deplete the inventory they have.

Q:Will this 10 inch sliding Ridgid miter saw be on sale on black Friday

A:  I didn't see this model among the Black Friday offerings, however Ridgid's 12" slider is a Black Friday deal at $299. That lower than the usual price for the 10".

Q:How easy is it to change the saw blade?
    by|Oct 16, 2016
    2 Answers
    Answer This Question

A:  The first time yes three hands because you don't know how the blade guard is attached. After that NO two hands only. I don't use the ridgid changing tool, it works fine ( a 1/4 allen wrench with a Phillips point on one end ) but I like using a regular #2 Phillips screwdriver and a 1/2 box wrench instead.

    by|May 4, 2023

A:  I've owned a number of miter saws over the years, and I know exactly what you mean about needing 3 hands. But this particular saw is comfortably a "2-hand" model for blade changes. If you would like to have more specifics, consider downloading the manual from: http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pdfImages/8d/8d64cff1-600a-4dc0-a0ff-7a3a7b257067.pdf

Q:Does both slide rods have bearings?

      Answer This Question

A:  The parts list and diagram may help answer your question: https://cdn2.ridgid.com/resources/media?key=68657a07-1ba3-4cb7-aa11-85165cd84cc5&languageCode=en&countryCode=US&type=document

A:  Both slide rails have barrings

      by|May 4, 2023

A:  The exploded drawing/ parts list is pretty useless or it is a trade secret whether the saw slide mechanism has bushings or bearings. Must be brz bushings since they do not list any part for the slide. Would be good to hear from the factory on this.

      by|May 4, 2023

A:  Unfortunately the user manual does not have a parts breakdown diagram so I can't confirm your question. But having used this saw for over a year now, it still slides smooth.

Q:How well does this saw cut a 4x4?
      by|Sep 26, 2016

      Answer This Question

A:  Like butter, just make sure the saw has completed the soft start (maybe a second long) before cutting. This saw has plenty of power but users have to be aware of the soft start function which cabinet guys will enjoy.

      by|May 4, 2023

A:  I have had no problems cutting anything, especially a 4x4 (which is actually 3.5"x3.5"). Carbide tip blade, pull the trigger and boom ... you are done.

A:  make sure its on,(press button) if you are working under a light, it will be hard to see. should be red line.

          by|May 4, 2023

A:  Please check your batteries. As they may be the cause of a dim lazer light. The lazer does not function well in the outside daylight.

          by|May 4, 2023

A:  Make sure the lenses are clean. If I don't clean mine periodically, the laser almost disappears.

A:  You may need to contact company for replaced lazer light, mine is very bright
