This ventilation fan is the second one I installed, and it is a simple replacement. This one is to replace an old builder-grade fan that was very loud and was not efficient to move much air. The new fan is a few inches larger but was a perfect size for the room. My installation was a retrofit, and all done entirely from the inside the bathroom, no attic access was necessary. Since my Florida attic gets extremely hot in the summer, I did the installation early morning, and it took me about an hour. After removing the old fan, I made the ceiling hole bigger for this new fan. Then I inserted the metal casing and connected the electrical wire. I attached the circular duct exhaust to the fan adaptor using both foil tape and a 4-inch metal worm gear clamp (Note: These two items don't come in the kit). Then I push the fan motor upwards onto the metal casing, and I secure the unit with the included screws. The fan white grill cover fits perfectly, looks thin and slick. There are no visible gaps between the ceiling and the grill. Turning on the fan, I was surprised how the fan was powerful and very low noise. This unit does a way better job to remove moisture and reduce mold and mildew growth. Having a bright LED light on the fan is a big plus. Overall, I am satisfied with this low noise fan, effortless to install, and includes a bright LED light.

This Nutone “ROOMSIDE SERIES” has what is called “ SURFACE SHIELD” it is a 110 CFM fan with an Anti-Bacterial LED light that prevents bacteria and mold growth, ( you need to read the instructions to see the limitations as far as distance from light and etc.) the dual function light works as a regular space light or as a anti-bacterial / mold prevention light. It is described as “Easy Install” with no Attic Access Required. and if you can get to the fasteners that are holding your existing fan in place and get it out of the way through the hole it is in, I am confident you can mount it without going to the attic. In my case, I am going to wait until the weather here where I live cools off( it has been in the mid to upper 90s for weeks) and then I will pull down my stairs to the attic and remove my existing fan/light and then come down and install this new fan/ duel function unit.

Extremely quiet and versatile exhaust fan for the bath! I recently went to get another Broan exhaust fan as I liked my first one so much, and found that they were now sold under the NUTONE label. I was so pleased with the installation options for this fan. It can be used in old or new work, and the old-work options make the installation a snap! The damper and hose adapter installs from the inside of the housing and is captured by the fan mechanism, and the trim ring snaps into place. Very nice! The lamp has a unique feature of transitioning from normal light to a UV disinfection light and does so with quick toggles of the power-switch.

Picked up this bathroom exhaust fan for a remodel that I have been thinking about doing for quite some time now. What are the best features about this exhaust fan is that it has a UV light that prevents mold and keeps odors from occurring in the bathroom. That special UV light that has a feature on this exhaust fan do you have the option whether to use it or not you were not locked into use it all the time. The instructions for installation and use a pretty straightforward and very clear. The fan itself pulls out a lot of air as well too so will be very efficient for any application

The NuTone SurfaceShield Vital Vio Powered Exhaust Vent Fan w/ LED White Light and Antibacterial Violet Light, 110 CFM has so many features, and can operate using light only, light plus fan, etc. It appears to be a great purchase but you need to know the options are limited depending on where you are installing it: If you already have a preexisting light and fan combo, and simply updating it, this is a perfect choice. But, if this is a new install (either in a new home just built, or a home you want to add a light +fan to) you have to have adequate attic accessibility - because for that job - this is not an 'in-bathroom' only install.

Great air flow and SUPER quiet! I got this to install over my large walk in shower. Even though there is 4 feet of open space above the top of the glass on three sides before you get to the ceiling, moisture stayed in the shower because of poor air flow. Not any more! Installation is straight forward. The only things you need to make sure of is having a two function light switch, 14/3 solid ROMEX for the power connections and GFCI protection on the line IF you're using this over a tub or shower (check you local electrical codes for additional requirements if doing this). This fan is literally whisper quiet, quite a welcome relief from the old unit above the commode. The UV light feature is interesting. Time will tell if it helps with keeping mildew in check in the shower, but even if it doesn't, the quiet operation is worth the price. You can do this installation yourself if you're comfortable with working with electricity, otherwise a licensed electrician is a good idea.

This was a bigger project than I anticipated, when I had to break out the drywall saw I was a bit scared. But if you can cut a loaf of bread you can cut the hole necessary to fit this. It was something like 10 inches by 10 inches which is about twice the size of my original little bent fan. What an improvement! The fan is awesome. The ultraviolet light is a cool feature too. Don’t be scared to DIY!

This EXHAUST VENT FAN WITH LIGHT. The fan is easy to install in a retrofit situation. The directions are straightforward and easy to follow. Once the power wires are hooked up, you just plug in the wires inside the fan body and install the light cover with the ANTIBACTERIAL VIOLET LIGHT IN IT. The fan moves a lot of air and is bright enough for a bathroom fan light.

Replaced a much smaller fan. Took awhile to remove old fan and cut the new hole. If you want the light to be separate from the fan you will need to purchase a new switch. The light is bright enough to light up our small bathroom. Will purchase another for our second bath.

I was in the market for a new exhaust fan in our bathroom. I was attracted to this fan because of the reasonable price, LED light and quietness listed. I read the reviews and was concerned because most stated they had a tough time installing the cover. I nearly changed my mind because of this but then thought, I need to try it first. If I can’t do it, I’ll return it. The unit was very easy to install and the directions were pretty straight forward with attaching the cover effortlessly. The fan is very quiet, the LED light gives the perfect amount of light and the fan clears the air in the bathroom, 2 piece 4x8 powder room, very quickly. I am very happy I decided to buy against the reviews stating the difficulty of the cover. Perhaps they made a change but it was very simple. You will enjoy this unit.

The pro's are it is a good looking, unobtrusive design. The bearings are sealed so they should not dry out; the sound of the fan is detectable yet not so loud to be aggravating. The strength of the fan does remove the steam from the room & mirror IF you are taking a warm shower (as opposed to a hotter shower which would create more steam in the room). If you prefer a hotter more steam producing shower and expect to use the mirrors afterward, you will not be able to however it can remove a good majority of the steam overall in the room. The light is very bright but cannot figure out why it is $20 more than the other 2, same item just without the LED Hopefully they last. Bought 1 of this type and two with no light in it for our bathrooms

The fan is EXTREMELY quiet. The LED light is very bright, and along with the vanity lights, the bathroom is well lit. I'm happy and satisfied. The installation was not too bad. The hardest part was trying to get screws through the side wall into the rafter. It would be nice if the holes were pre-punched!!

Looks way better than the grill style covers on most bath fans. Install was easier for me since I have exposed beams from my remodel. This fan is very very quiet. The light is great too. It looks like a lot of theses nutones have the same size housing and fan motors plus/minus other features. That should make replacements a breeze when needed. Why do bath fans still have those annoying clips for attaching? There must be a better way.

Yeah the clips are a struggle to insert, there got to be a better way. I would have preferred a couple of screws. Also the flapper falls out easily without you even realizing it causing you have to remove the fan again to re-inserted. And lastly, its really meant for a large bathroom due to the bright led light. In our small bathroom it was way to bright and I had to insert a plastic reducer to knock it down. The fan is however pretty quiet and it looks good but a bit pricey!

We are updating one of our bathrooms and really liked the design of this exhaust fan with the light. It has a sleek design and is extremely quiet. The directions made it easy for my husband to install, until he got to the cover with the light. We've never had so much trouble attaching a cover. Those little wire springs are difficult to manipulate and so far we've been unable to attach it correctly. One side always comes unattached. After numerous tries it still isn't secure. This doesn't seem to be a problem with most customers, so guess it's just us. My husband has done numerous remodels and new builds so we're a little surprised to have so much trouble with something that should be simple. For now he taped it up and we'll reread the directions and try again. But other than that, the fan is everything I wanted for our remodel.

The NuTone Roomside Series White 80 CFM Ceiling Bathroom Exhaust Fan with CleanCover and Dimmable LED light is an excellent replacement to the 19 year old bathroom exhaust fan that I am replacing. I used the templet on the side of the box to cut out the existing hole to the dimensions given 10.5 inches by 9.75 inches for the correct size opening. Following the instruction will allow for an easy install of the exhaust fan. I really like the quietness and the added bonus of the light which is ease to install following the included instructions. You have a separate plug for the light and fan which connect into the existing wiring.

Since I do most of my own installs, I look for as much snap fit and room side install as possible. This NuTone Roomside kit fits my bill. The features of this bathroom exhaust system are also great. Low profile with light and easy cleaning, 80 CFM air flow, squirrel cage fan for smooth quiet operation and a 4" EZDuct connector with TrueSeal damper. The light kit can be wired separate from fan or wired together. I want the light on when the fan is on. The light is also dimmable if you have a dimmer switch and want to take advantage of that feature. The damper saves on backdrafts which I also like very much. My fan is going over the main "seat", but with proper GFCI circuitry (which is not included) you could install over a tub or shower according to UL listing. I like most everything about this install kit and would recommend it to any do it yourselfer. Of course professional installation is always a good choice too.

It was time to replace the old ceiling fan in my bathroom. The old unit was 20+ years old. The installation of this new unit was pretty simple. The template made cutting the hole easy. Just a few alterations to the existing hole. The cover is a bit flimsy but once in place and secured, no big deal. The light is bright. The fan speed is adequate to remove steam. Most important, to me, is the sound. This thing is quiet. I would recommend this product to a friend.

First love this fan, it's so quiet and the installation was pretty simple. I've installed several fans now, the box claimed this could easily be used in a remodel and in this case it was right. This fan was was about 1" in both directions larger than fan it replaced. They provide a nice template, so it was easy to use a "hole" saw to cut the correct size. The larger hole made it very easy to get the old fan out and the new one in and reconnected. The light is quite bright, but I needed that for this room. And did I mention the fan is VERY quiet (a huge improvement over my old fan). And it's very well made, and looks modern. It took me about an hour to remove and replace my old fan with this fan, about what I'd hoped. I'm very pleased with this fan.

Looks like this was designed by unprofessionals. No thought was out in, how this product could be used by customers. I am fairly good with more than 20 years of DIY projects but installing this was pain. Please Do listen to negative reviews to save your precious time, and frustration. Its worth putting extra money to buy a different brand to save installation frustration. Can you believe they did not even include $.50 connectors? I had to multiple trips to get the installation complete.

Very quiet and a retty bright light

Fan and light are nice. Install is straight-forward. I saw a lot of reviews saying the cover springs/clips are poorly designed, but I disagree. I hope this helps someone else struggling with them. After fiddling with it I figured out the springs come installed BACKWARDS from how they are supposed to work. You need to remove each spring and flip it around. Then, bend it with your fingers into a V shape and insert each end into the black plastic fan housing. Worked perfectly.

Fan and light work fine but the cover and clips that hold the cover on are cheap junk. The spring loaded clips were difficult to use and do not hold the cover tight to the ceiling.

I purchased two units which both failed due to the plastic fan rubbing on the wires when at full speed due to the wobble.
