Dust shroud cheaply made — hose clamp adjuster (that holds shroud itself on to angle grinder) kept coming apart! After 2 hours of fighting w this poorly constructed assembly — threw it away. Quality is so poor, Home Depot should pull it from their shelves! Stock purpose built shrouds or none at all

If your intended use is a Diamabrush with a ridgid 8amp corded this won’t work. I had more dust on the top of the shroud than in the vacuum inlet, and it make it much more difficult to keep the Diamabrush level on the surface to keep from scoring the wood. This was a complete waste of $50 and the considerable time I spent adjusted and fiddling with it. It is poorly made and overpriced. I would return it if I could, and I regret buying it.

Tried to attach to my dewalt first and it wouldn’t work. When attached the wheel wouldn’t go on to the arbor. Put it on my Makita and it fit after a lot of adjusting. But after using for maybe 10 minutes (all I needed it for) when I took it off the shroud had melted and no longer usable. Really disappointed. I think it should be made of metal not plastic. Surprised how terrible this product is.

The design is horrible. Initially, it worked as expected, bot came loose while in operation, and was immediately destroyed by the diamond brush I was using.

I was hopeful that some of the reviews I had read were purely because it was used on thinset. I figured for my purposes it should work fine. However, as soon as I started using it, it didn't take even 30 seconds for the plastic to start melting around the area where it mounts to the grinder, as well as the little plastic brush fibers. See photos attached. This thing is not even worth $10, much less $60. Good idea but poor execution.

Small amounts of dust did get out while grinding some high spots on a concrete floor. Still, this works better than not using a shroud on my Ryobi grinder.

I attached the shroud to my Dewalt angle grinder and after 2 uses, grinding away 10sq' of thinnest from plywood sub floor, it was in pieces. The issue is, the shroud clamps to the grinder and the clamp is spring mounted to the shroud allowing it to swivel. After attaching the shop vac hose to the shroud, the weight and force of the vacuum hose causes the shroud to swivel and rub against the top of the cup wheel. So while grinding away on the floor, I was also grinding away on the top of the shroud rendering it useless after 2 short uses.

After reading reviews both 5* and 2*, I was apprehensive on will it work for the project I was attempting. I am cleaning basement walls of old paint sealer, calcium deposits and some mold built up over 40 years. Since I need to get into the indentations between the blocks, i am using a wire wheel. I could not find a 6.0 inch plastic bowl or storage container to give me a seal against the wall, so I used a piece of cardboard to increase the depth of the unit. Tried it out and suction was great and No leakage of dust. You have to think out of the box for this kind of setup. Grinder is a Harbor Freight model. 1) need to remove the guard on the grinder. 2) Need to make sure unit is centered and flush with grinders collar. 3) removable front piece may or may not line up with front of grinder. 4) could be a better mounting system.D

If you've ever ground up old thin set, you already know the mess it makes. I bought this in hopes of keeping dust from spreading to every square millimeter of my home. Having now done the entire kitchen floor, I can say with certainty that this thing works. Set up was relatively easy. I have a 4.5" Dewalt angle grinder - just know you need to remove the the guard and the latching mechanism before installing. Also note that this attaches to smaller shop vacs; if you have one of the bigger ones, you'll need a hose adapter. My specific Home Depot was out of them, so I got creative with a beer box and some masking tape. Once installed and in rhythm, I had the floor done in an hour. It's probably safe to say this thing reduced dust by 85-90%. Further, it's great that it keeps the floor clean so you can always see what you're doing. Bottom line: If you're about to grind thin set or mortar, do yourself a favor and grab one of these. You will not regret it.

I read the instructions which are vague but simple. I bought a makita grinder which it did not fit. Therefore I went and bought a Dewalt Dwe4120 and the fit was not what I would call good. The first dust shroud pro I used melted and would not stay tight. Within a couple minutes it was trash. I am using a using a diamond wheel to remove thin set. Ok I chalked that up to maybe applying to much pressure. So I went and got another universal dust shroud another $60. I looked for every way to insure it was secure but the pipe clamp they use to secure Just would not tighten all the way down. I would use for a couple minutes or less and have to try and secure. Finally it as well was not useable, I did not get 2 room done and have 5 more. I am not going to say this is junk because it does keep the dust down. However I would not recommend to be used for removing thin set. I also would think this would be a remarkable tool if it were made of cast or a durable material with a proven attachment for specific grinders.

Cheap plastic combined with my DeWalt DCG413 and diamond cup wheel melted this piece of junk on the first use. Had to throw it away.

This is exactly what I needed. I had to grind a hearth down to flush with the subfloor, and I didn't want to create a disaster of dust. Although I needed to remove the guard locking lever from my 18v Metabo LTX 150 (Metabo, not Metabo HPT), the fittings locked into the head slot perfectly, and the housing stayed secure through the whole time using it. The dust collection worked great with my cheapo shop vac. I fitted a Makita 4.5" cement grinder with it, and followed the instructions to get the brush ends about 1/8" from the face of the grinding wheel. I needed to unclip the clear part edge thing so I could grind the cement right up to the brickwork. I'm glad the housing had that. Overall, I'm super happy with it. Metabo doesn't seem to offer an OEM part like this for the angle grinder I have, so I guess I'll stick with this. It was a bit of a pain removing the guard lock lever then trying to figure out how the spring goes back, but since I'm grinding cement only rarely, it's not a deal breaker for me.

Every once in a while you are stuck with a problem and need a solution. The package indicates 99% effective and it is pretty close. I would have been happy with less but was happy as it exceeded my expectations. Mine was the thin-set under a bathroom tile floor. This attachment on my old 4.5" angle grinder paired with the Ridgid Cup Grinding wheel did the trick. Did about 65 sq. ft. of floor in less than an hour. The only time it spit dust was when the vacuum bag needed changing. 2 bags in my Ridgid 4 gallon shop vac. I seriously considered pulling up 2 layers of plywood until I watched some videos on this method. This shroud, a good vacuum, the cup grinding wheel for concrete, respirator, safety glasses, gloves, and an hour later you are good.

This fit on my 4.5" Dewalt angle grinder with ease. Did not come disattached during entire job. Vacuumed up probably 95% of dust created (I was grinding old thinset). I would recommend a robust filter for your wet/dry vac to keep dust from being ejected by vacuum.

Does not stay on grinder properly. Says it fits Ryobi bit doesnt fit right and the wheel damaged it

Tool works exactly as intended to gather up all the dust from grinding out mortar on flooring- that's what I used it for at least. Since we were working on a remodel in existing living space, dust control is very real concern- this solved it when doing the most dusty part of that room around the fireplace replacing the tile. The wall removal piece to get up against the wall is simply great engineering and thoughtfulyness of how this tool is used.... The price justifies itself mostly in the amount of time you save cleaning up, covering everything and breathing in all that dust! Hard to buy, but good choice overall I think to save the clean up time.

This is a nice product when it fits! I have used it on a Rigid and a DeWalt grinder and it sure beats breaking thin set with a hammer and chisel. But it will not fit on my Milwaukee because they have added a little screw and a spring so you cannot latch on safely.

I used this with my Dewalt grinder and a diamond disk to remove 350 sq ft of thinset left after tile demo. It worked perfectly! It felt a little flimsy, and there were quite a few gaps that I thought would allow a lot of dust to get through. But it held up well and I created more dust removing the tile than this thing kicked up. I used a standard shop vac and filter, nothing special. I did have to clean the filter often, but it was a small price to pay for how well it trapped the dust. Easily worth every penny!

Great item, it does what it says. I had to grind glue off a cement floor to get it prep for tile. I connected it to my shop vac and it did help with the dust.

Best $50 I've spent in a long time. Sure, the build quality could be a bit better, but this thing gets the job done. Spend a little extra time making sure it's centered and very secure on the grinder. Wear a mask for when you inevitably forget to turn on the vacuum. Be prepared to swap out your vacuum bag and possibly filter. In my photo you'll see that I didn't grind all that much, but it left about 2lbs of dust in my bag. Though it still had room, I chucked it and my filter after the job--not worth risking getting concrete dust everywhere. I couldn't believe how well it kept the dust down. Only toward the last few minutes of 30 min of grinding did I notice a little dust coming out and this was only because the dust bag was filling up. If you have a bigger job, get several bags and an extra filter. The money spent on them is well worth it, considering your health and the time you'd otherwise spend cleaning up.

The best dust cover I've used. (90 - 95% of dust stayed in cover and hose) Hooked up to the shop vac almost no dust untill the filter was full. The spring action on cover helps you control the grinding disk. I had to grind a 7' × 5' area down around .50 to.75 this only took me about an hour total with a 4" disk grinder (10 minutes clean up). Time to install my vinyl plank flooring!

Did the job keeping the dust down. The biggest problem was keeping the filter on the vacuum clean.

It works! I bought a super affordable grinder and a diamond cup grinding wheel to level a few square feet of concrete. The dust was horrible and my efforts to mitigate it with just a shop vacuum made minimal difference. Remember: SAFETY FIRST, wear PPE (N95, face shield, safety glasses, gloves) AND HEPA filter on your shop vacuum. And, if you can place the shop vac outside that is even better!

Works really well and fits my craftsman 4 1/2 in angle grinder perfectly. I used this while using the Diama brush and it fit perfectly as well as contained the dust. I did not hook it up to the shop vac but I’m sure it wood contain even more dust particles!

The product works very well. The issue I have though is that you need a vacuum hose adapter, which is sold separately, which you cannot buy at the same time in the store!! Why sell an item in store, that requires an adapter, and not sell the adapter too??

I was a bit skeptical at first this would really help abate the concrete dust, but I was pleasantly surprised. It really works even when hooked up to a regular HEPA vacuum cleaner we have for the house. Attaching the shroud to my De Walt angle grinder required some thought and time, but once done everything was fine. In the end I was able to cleanly grind out a bunch of leftover concrete from our kitchen floor where we had removed old tiles. Almost no dust - just full vacuum bags!

I purchased two dust shrouds one 7” and one 5”. The 7” worked great the 5” left little to be desired!

This is a must have tool when using an angle grinder with a bell grinder head. Nearly eliminated all dust and debris. And with ability to remove and reinstall the clear side panel when getting near walls and back into open spaces gave a clean job.

As other reviewers have mentioned, the shroud began to melt within the first minute of use. I tried using it on a Makita grinder and a Metabo grinder but neither connected. With significant effort, I got it onto my Milwaukee grinder. I tested it on a 1” x 1” concrete repair. With a diamond cup mounted I wasn’t able to get the repair ground down before the shroud started melting. I was optimistic but ended up disappointed with a burnt finger.
