I have used this product for many years and it holds up great outside and covers excellent.I find a lot of products that work great are discontinued when you want to purchase it the next time.I hope they do not discontinue this product.I would recommend it to all.

I’ll let you know this spring after I use it

Used it on some new Doug Fir siding. We chose Olive Wood. I applied it with a sprayer and back brushed. The result was nearly black and pretty splotchy. I suppose that I could have applied another coat, but I wanted to actually see the wood; it’s why I bought a stain. But it’s not really a stain; it’s an opaque layer - or, by another name: paint. So, I scrubbed it all back off with mineral spirits. The result is beautiful, though I am suspicious about durability because of the mineral spirits. 350sf/gallon? I could get more like 3500sf out of a gallon. Now I am left wondering about what to apply over the top as a dealer? Maybe some Olympic Elite un-tinted “stain”?

Little bit thin paint

Used this on clean cedar wood, followed instructions, applied two layers. After two weeks of nice warm weather, the stain is still sticky. So it is on the paint tray, so it doesn't have to do with the surface was applied to. I've worked 10 hours to sand, clean, and apply two layers of stain. PPG I want my money back, your product is terrible! Who is going to pay for my work and other materials?

I was very happy with the way the paint covered in the outside of my porch

Our HOA required our pergola to be stained a solid white. Consumer Reports rated the Olympic Elite as the best one they tested. We stained our cedar pergola on a Saturday and added a second coat on the next day. It looks fantastic! Avalanche White was a perfect color. Now to see how long it lasts!

Don't know which was worst, the product or the PPG customer service. Bought the product a year ago and applied it to a pressure treated deck that had been dried in the summer sun (no rain) for two weeks. Power-washed and rinsed prior to drying. Applied stain per product label directions. Less that a year later, stain is peeling away from the material. Reported it to customer service who had me provide pictures and a description of how I applied it (followed the label directions to the "T"). They responded by telling me that they recommend weathering the wood for 6 to 12 months before applying. I told them that there was no mention of their "recommendation" on the label and that if I left my deck untreated through summer, fall, winter, and spring in the Midwest, I would have needed a deck "restore" product versus a stain/sealant to fill the resulting cracks that would have developed. Through it all the customer service rep didn't seem to care what I said as long as I went away. Their motto should be "We aren't happy until you aren't happy". I would rate this product and their customer service a "0" if I could. Do yourself a favor and avoid this product at all costs.

We bought the "coffee" colored stain which looks like a dark brown in the stock photos. On our deck, it looks very grey. We thought after putting down the second coat, maybe it would darken to the correct color, but it's still just grey grey. It also has a very shiny finish, despite us following instructions properly. It is slippery. My 3 year old slipped and fell down the deck stairs yesterday. Not happy, and with the shiny finish I am concerned how well it will hold up over time (seems like it could be likely to peel).

The actual color upon application was different than the company provided paint chart. Paint chart said beige, actual color was yellow.

I gave this Olympic stain four stars because although the application and finish are both excellent, I have no idea how well it’s going to hold up. So too soon for five stars.

Home depot should get back in touch with me in a few years. Kinda hard to rate the product 2 weeks after application. That said, stain went on smooth and looks fine at this point. I've registered the product with Olympic so lifetime guarantee is in effect (will they stand behind it?). If you're staining wood that is not new, prep will be 90% of your efforts.

Best deck stain we've used so far. All others peeled off in less than a year. Olympic stain still looks good after 2 years; just a little faded but still intact. Holds up well in tough New England weather.

Timeless Wood stain (PPG) was very easy to work with. I had old wood to cover and it covered very well. I am going to watch to see how long it lasts on old wood. I did primer the wood before using Timeless PPG.

My first review on this product was quite dismal. I must in good faith revise my review. It turns out this product has an exceptionally long cure time. Without exagerartion up to a month! It is extreme and I was annoyed at the lack of durability during that cure time. The fact is after about a month it hardened up quite well and after 4 years it has been quite a respectable product. Thinking back I'm surprised to be saying it. But now that I know it's nature I would use it again. It actually has a great tree like finish when cured properly.

The stain covered the recommended square footage as promised. However, on new wood I had to apply 2 - 3 coats and on old dry decking, (cleaned) it took 3-4 applications. Also, it took 6 days for the stain to cure before my customer could walk on the surface without sticking to the surface.
